The excuse they are using is because I have to be mask fit for a respirator.

I think it’s a conspiracy to feminize men and big razor has something to do with it too.

    I wouldn’t shave for a female, but a job.. I feel like a slave,

I feel like running off with my beard and living on the beach.

Get a doctors letter saying you get bad razor burn from shaving so you can’t. Then they can’t make you.

use feminazi terms, claiming you are considering to convert to a religion, that doesn’t allow you to shave (Jewish, Islam, …).

"Him, who delights in solitude, is either a wild beast or a GOD!" - Aristotle (Aristot. Pol. 1.1253a) 1 Hom. Il. 9.63; the passage goes on: ἐστὶν ἐκεῖνος ι ὃς πολέμου ἔραται.

Bulls~~~. Tell me where it says that you have to be clean shaven to wear a respirator? F~~~ers just want you to shave so you’re more professional, but f~~~ ’em. Your body, your choice. I would NEVER shave for some asshole company I was working for. Men have had beards for THOUSANDS of years. There is literally NO legitimate reason for having to shave your beard, unless you’ve got a super long one and are working with flammable s~~~ all day or something.

In my 9 years at my job I have never worn a respirator or had training on how to even use one. It is bulls~~~.

I’ve just got rid of mine for charity.

    Will grow it back.

It’s all bollocks. I’m in a business that is positively anal about safety and I have seen nothing about beards, oxygen, resperators etc.

If a resperator can’t seal a beard it can’t seal a wart, zit, beef jaw, tumor, hijab, mole, cheek implants, long nose, missing cheek hahaha FFS.

A company that makes a resperator that can’t seal a beard won’t last long.

Tell them to show you proof.

The females get away with not wearing a mask because they are ‘claustrophobic’.

It’s all bulls~~~. Just the flavor of the month jab at something to get everyone’s mind off the other bulls~~~.

    I wouldn’t shave for a female, but a job.. I feel like a slave,

I had to shave for a striped officer’s job. Every day. Sometimes twice. No 5-o-clock shadow was permitted in certain public areas. On days off, it didn’t matter. Yeah it felt like a “slave” but it was “uniform”.

I think it’s a conspiracy to feminize men

“Uniform” jobs already mean you’re as disposable as the next man. That’s why women get the ‘gina tingles for men in “uniform”. It says “he’s a good little dutiful and disposable doggy who follows orders”.

Uni-form = All the same. No individuality. Selfless.

Once, a superior officer (3 stripes) reprimanded me, and I lost my s~~~ with him. It was like a 3 o clock shadow and he just wanted to be an asshole with power. I called him out. Lasted 10 months and finally quit. I wanted no part of it, and didn’t shave for a month after that.

All good advice, there are types of respirator that fit properly with beards:

    http://www.hse.gov.uk/respiratory-protective-equipment/fit-testing-basics.htm

If you have a good reason i.e. doctors letter or religious reasons they will have to get a better respirator:

“If there are good reasons for having a beard (eg for religious reasons), alternative forms of RPE, that do not rely on a tight fit to the face, are available.”

Companies never challenge medical evidence for fear of getting sued if something happens.

Im saying, if it’s not a “uniform” then you can’t be required to shave. It has to be regulation/official policy (preferably in print), or they can go fist themselves – right to the elbow.

“I would prefer you didn’t have a beard”.

“That’s nice. I would prefer you didn’t have a beard too”.

Beards are approved by policy at my work. Policy also says that you have to be clean shaven for the respirator program. Now they are trying to expand the criteria for requiring you to be in that program. I fall within these new parameters.

Well then shave. It’s not a big deal. It will grow again. They are not asking you to wax your chest.

I’m in the same boat. OSHA has requested that my area I work at have air testing done, because of high silicate levels. So if the air test fails a couple readings. Guess what they are going to make us shave our beards for dust mask fitting. We have always had to get fit tested once a year. And the plant nurse kinda overlooked it somewhat. When the company first started fit testing they told all of us we needed to be clean shaven. We had this one guy that has had his beard since the 70s. He wasn’t about to shave his whole beard. So he shaved a line under his chin where the mask seals and along his cheek bone. It was hilarious. We gave him the Indian name of man with two beards. God rest his soul. He still died of cancer from breathing all that silicate in for 30 years prior to the dust mask.

I had been growing my beard since Sept…Not cutting my hair either…Until yesterday that is…I have had a crew cut and clean shave for work my entire life…Beard was all gappy and terrible looking…and the hair was making me sweat like a pig…ugh..Finally couldn’t take any of it anymore…Had to shave my head to marine crew cut, and babies butt shaved clean…Cannot even help it, just feels better to me…Guess I went along with it for too long…I look like a kid now though…

Sounds to me like you have made your decision. Your beard is a small price to pay if you enjoy your work.

Just a thought, what if you shave it off to begin with to make them happy, and then grow it back, but keep it short and trimmed as to not interfere with a respirator. From your avatar, your beard looks pretty thick.

Shave to expose a tatoo under the beard. Then they will want you to grow it back.
