I jog, I can’t say I run, am not fast enough. Still I go for a half hour and know that it’s good for my health. But what seems to get in the way of my exercising for health is the self-imposed competitive urge. It bothers me because I shouldn’t care less about what others are doing around me, that’s if I keep to my idea of the MGTOW spirit. I jog along a bike path and the track is used by plenty of joggers and runners of all ages. Even though I have set my own limits and know I must stick to them, to be able to continue doing my exercise 5 or 6 times a week, I get influenced. It’s one thing to get passed on the left by a 20-something, but now, for two days in a row, I’ve had guys around my age whip by me as I jog along doing what I know I should. It just makes me wonder. I try to take it with a dose of acceptance but still. Either I start thinking about how I’m going downhill because of my age, or wonder if I shouldn’t be cranking it up a notch. To me, if it doesn’t come naturally even with a good amount of effort, then it wasn’t meant to be. I just have to get back home, take of my shoes and except that I’ve done what I can do. But it’s hard sometimes… I don’t often pass other runners, but to be fair the average age of the joggers is I do think, lower than my age. Anyhow, just a thought in case any of you want to chime in and share stuff about your exercise experiences as middle aged men.

Nah…Its alright…You have to slowly build up your stamina…It doesnt happen overnight…Enjoy the jog, enjoy the view and be in the present moment when you run…Just look at the things around you like its the first time you have seen it…
I stand with feet apart and let my balls hang free...Manginas dont have balls...See how they stand and sit at the whim of their masters...
Lately, I have been hearing about more and more knee and/or hip replacements for some “ex” joggers/runners.
No Thanks, there are low/no impact options that will allow me to keep my original equipment for the “LONG RUN”.

This is why I don’t try to crank it up. I have no pain doing it my way, but who knows what will happen if I try to push it a little too much. I’ll just wind up in pain and losing out on my enjoyable activity. As it stands now, I don’t have any joint pain, and when I do get anything, I tone it down or give it a break for a day or two. It’s not worth the loss of an activity that I enjoy. And so, if I keep that in mind, and keep with the moment, and enjoy what I know is my right pace, I’m better off.

Yup, its okay, compete with yourself. This is part of no f~~~s given, especially on stuff that matters little.
Build up slowly to prevent injury and damage.
Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.
I know a guy who started running at 50. His son didn’t want to practice for cross country so he offered to run with him.
3 miles and he said he almost puked.
Fast forward: The guy runs Ultra trail races like its a walk in the park. he is 70 and KILLS IT. He’s run 100 milers and runs 50ks regularly. He is a beast. And he started at 50 and thought he was going to vomit.
Keep at it. Work on form. Don’t just jog for X amount of time.
Do speed work or tempo runs on some days. Mix it up. Push yourself and you will get better, faster and stronger. Don’t get down or measure yourself against others.
Don’t get down or measure yourself against others.
Exactly. Running/jogging is like golfing in that you’re competing against yourself.
Do not date. Do not impregnate. Do not co-habitate. Above all, do not marry. Reclaim and never again surrender your personal sovereignty.
Try not to link your performance to how anybody else is doing. If there is a soft / grass surface to jog on, so much the better. Consider having other aerobic exercises to mix in on other days, such as stairs, swimming, biking, the elliptical, or whatever other options you might have available. Years latee, as your knees might give begin to give out, you can transition more toward the other exercises. You’re doing great day- good luck!
We just don't realize life's most significant events while they're happening. Back then, I thought, "Well, there'll be other days". I didn't realize that that was the only day. - "Moonlight" Graham
I know you got the competitive spirit. THAT’S GOOD!
But those guys whipping past you ? Brother they may be trying to Burn away the stresses of life. Not just running for health.
Don’t tear up your body for no reason.
AGAIN.. GO YOUR OWN WAY MAN. Being healthy, and fit is better if your joints work.
You are all alone. If you have been falsely accused of RAPE, DV, PLEASE let all men know about the people who did this. http://register-her.net/web/guest/home
Naturally there is the urge to get better at something that we put some effort into.
But there is a difference in being better for you, or for other people. I like to lift weights, that my thing, I got in a point where I become with a body shape that I find really good, people usually don’t like it, “it’s gross” or “too big, you don’t look natural”, I don’t give a s~~~, but also I don’t want to get bigger than I am, a thing that people usually do when confronted by others about something, is doing the very opposite, which shows that others have influence over you.No matter what you do, you set your desired performance, don’t let people talk you into getting in a “pro” level, neither let others influence you in any way. Set a goal for yourself, sometimes is good to have some challenges, but don’t forget why you started doing that, if it was for fun or just to be healthy, don’t let your challenge put you in another direction.
Anonymous1I feel that way about myself at times as well. I am no longer the 20 year old that recovers overnight. I am however in better physical condition then most people my age. Do not worry yourself with the anomaly’s. Those people who can beat you. The marathon you are running is not measured in miles. Maybe it is not measured in years. But is is measured in the life quality of life you live. And only you can measure that.
Run intervals. Mixing intervals with steady state will get you gains. You should run flat out for about a minute with a minute rest. Do that 5-10 times, take a 2 minute recovery, and then jog normally.
Cupcakes are Cold. MGTOW is Absolute Zero.
“Let us wait a little; when your enemy is executing a false movement, never interrupt him” –Napoleon Bonaparte, 1805I (Now) just run on the treadmill and I have worked up where I can run at a 1% incline for up to 20 miles at a 8:41 clip and am now working toward a 7 minute mile. I love the controlled conditions and the fact running indoors puts far less stress on the legs. F~~~ all of those snobbish “runners” who don’t consider treadmill running real running….at least I can quickly recover and probably won’t ever need knee replacement surgery. I also enjoy being in my 50’s and outrunning millennials (especially women) half of my age. Naturally, it took literally years to work up to where I am now….from walking 25 min/mile 12 years ago to easily being able to run a 8 minute mile. Motivation? I have a picture of myself 12 years ago, 75 pounds overweight, horrible cholesterol/Blood pressure numbers…and on the picture I have a meme that reads: “Dead Man walking, Don’t be this guy”. Don’t worry about what others are doing, be a (MRHOW) – man running his own way
Women do not love men. Women only love what men can provide.
Bike, get a bike, it wont destroy your articulation and im pretty sure you can crank it up a notch. In biking stamina can be more important than performance for long distances.
To those following me, be careful, I just farted. Men those beans are killers.

Totally missed the point of his post.

Brother. You are out there doing it. That’s all that matters. Carry on carrying on bro and don’t let other effect your path to fitness.

Went for my jog this morning and it felt great. Nice weather, good feeling afterwards. I enjoy the place jogging puts me in mentally, when I’m doing it.

Well, I’m sitting here reading your post with a pulled muscle in my back from running. So I know what you are talking about when you say you don’t want to over do it. You’re doing fine. Not all bodies are the same. I beat mine up playing basketball until I hit about 40. Pretty tough on your back and knees. I’m paying for it now in my 50’s.
If you enjoy it and can do it without causing injuries, then you are doing just fine. Now, off to take some Advil.
Order the good wine
