We men didn’t choose this lifestyle,   it chose us.

When the options on offer are being repeatedly kicked in the b~~~~, or going out to ride motorcycles and be awesome and make your own rules, I don’t see how it’s really a choice.

@sidecar: some like the pain of being kicked in the b~~~~ repeatedly… however id choose the motorcycle and freedom time and time again

I've killed worse than you on my way to real problems.

Men doing what truly makes them happy is what makes them men. I couldn’t agree more on having a dog pal, i like to spend my time expanding knowledge on rocket engines and welding. Got a ambition that i fully intend to see through in this lifetime. Less distractions = Happiness to me.

Being a man is deciding what you want and what you need. That is it. Everything else is environmental conditioning.  We men, tend to  extend protection through  religion and laws, as we need to have a stable of women to access, for some basic biological function.  To go our own way would be to eschew the norms and simply serve our own particular needs, whether that is with a family or redefining the family so that it respects the male role.  Which is to say, society doesn’t respect what you do, what you have to say or what you think you have, so why would you respect societies needs, beyond your own definition. Do we need cohesion? Whom does that serve?  As an old fart, yeah with a daughter no less, I see how society demands of men but not of women. Sad really.

Being a man, know what you want, know what is true and try not to go to jail.
