Been there, done that, burned a couple of times

It’s great to find a community of like-minded men. I can’t believe just how common my story has become. I made the stupid decision to marry at 18 and have 2 kids with her. After she cheated twice (that she admitted to), I found myself divorced at 25 (my choice, couldn’t trust her anymore). Of course, during the marriage, she gained a hundred pounds and quit working, and I did the majority of the housework.

But instead of staying single, I got married again a couple of years later. That one didn’t cheat, but did stop working, gained well over a hundred pounds, spent us into multiple bankruptcies, and got in the way of building the life I wanted. Finally divorced her a year ago (started the process a few years before that), and thankfully, no kids. It will still cost me for a few years (paying back the last bankruptcy, alimony and a mortgage), but I see light at the end of the tunnel. Then I’ll be truly free.

And there won’t be a third wife. Ever. In fact, I’ve been alone, pretty much by choice, for almost a year since my last girlfriend, and I’m in no hurry to find another one. Why would I take up with another woman who will screw up my life? “We’re a generation of men raised by women. I’m wondering if another woman is really the answer we need.” – Tyler Durden
