I’ve decided to become a barber. I am a couple years off the point where I won’t have to worry about money. I won’t be rich, but I’ll be able to buy a place with no mortgage and therefore be free to work jobs I want, with periods of not working at all. Best of all I won’t have to have a corporate job EVER AGAIN.

First I’m gonna train then find work so I can learn the craft. Eventually I’d like to have my own shop, which would be covertly MGTOW and overtly no bulls~~~. A place to come for a good trim, a manly chat and to call women c~nts under our breath. A place to LAUGH AND SMILE!

    Upsides
    Creative, using hands
    Job satisfaction
Motivating (if you half-ass your job, you won’t have any customers)
    Chilled environment
    Mostly male colleagues
Male clientele (if I ever cut a woeman’s hair I can always do a butcher job – she won’t be back)
    Monkey suit not required
    Own boss feeling
    Self-employment prospects
    Business ownership prospects
    Barbers will always be needed
    Can work while travelling
Can make good money in time

    Downsides
    Poor money initially
    Hair on clothes
    Some long hours

    Thoughts?

S~~~ money, lots of competition you have your hands in greasy hair all day.

They get hair splinters that hurt like fcuk.

My local barber charges £10 for a haircut and has a barber renting a chair from him, he has the cost of maintaining his shop, rent, rates , scissors, cutthroat razers, combs, barbicide, electric

How many hair cuts does he need to do a day to make any money/

You’d be surprised how much money you’ll make. My guy charges 12.00. I give him 15.00.
On busy days he’ll cut 30 people’s hair. All cash.

My cousin started his own shop out of high school. If he didn’t have have 4 kids and divorced from his ex he’d probably have multiple shops. Haven’t spoken to him in forever but I assume he’s in debt and married two or three times already with more kids.

Once you get good and build a clientele you’ll easily make 60k cash a year. But it may take years and you have to be determined. It’s can’t be about the money at first which you already know.

It’s def a stress free job though. Tons of s~~~ talking and no women around to deal with. Dream job indeed.

I doubt shops are gonna hire you without having experience. If you really want to do this, you should be practicing on family and friends. Study hair styles, go to school for it. Buy your supplies.

I’ll be training at the best place in the UK, to level 3. Graduates find work pretty easily, especially as I will be free to go anywhere in the UK. Also I’m getting some help with basics from real barbers prior to the course.

Yep, it ain’t just about the money, but as you said good money can be made. In cities it’s not uncommon to charge £20+, I’ve spoken to a couple barbers who make £500-£800 a week.

Yep. Every business has a downside. This particular business has more pros than cons.

For people worried about costs and competition… you aren’t building yourself to succeed. Guys like me will enter the market you’re in and devour you. The only difference us is that I always view the glass as half full.

It’s good to be weary of things but if you let cynicism dictate your attitude you’ll always have menial job with a boss who doesn’t care about you.

OP will do well in this business. Five years from now he may even have his own barber shop where people are renting chairs from him.

You won’t starve, and you will always have at least a lil Cash in your pocket everyday.

It’s a job that you can grow old with, and you don’t take it home with you.

If you don’t mind dealing with the “general public” which will bring a steady flow of Blue Pill Men through your chair on a daily basis then you could choose worse ways to pay your bills.

It is good money if you are good with financial planning. Buy the good stuff that lasts longer, rather than cheap stuff that requires constant fixes and replacements. Plan for dealing with oily or greasy hair, meaning, some chemicals can break apart the hair better, to not clog or dull your tools. The best place that I had my hair cut was fast and efficient. Most men have simple hair cuts, and if you do it fast enough, they will be willing to pay extra for a good haircut. Men understand the cost of time.

I’ve read that when it comes to happiness, hairstylists (barbers) are the happiest of them all when it comes to career and work.

I share your attitude exactly mate. And thanks for your words of encouragement.

I have too. And one can know this anyway from one’s experiences in a barber shop. Generally they seem in a good mood – the guy ones I mean. They don’t appear to be stressed or forcing themselves to be do something they hate.

Look up ASMR barber on Youtube and if you can start a business like that you can make serious money just read the comments in the video and you will understand. So many people want to find this service in the West but no one is really doing it.

Here are a few videos to get you started most of these barbers can be found in Asian countries and some European ones as well.

I can see you making really good money if you end up doing this good luck.
