The thing that I realize is that there is a big concentration of people here who are either autistic, or are not working at the moment. So before we call people any insult that deals with their intelligence or before we call certain females scum because they work minimum wage, that by doing so, we are basically also indirectly offending many people here with a diverse amount of problems as well. The truth is though is that people here probably are aware of the concentration of those type of people in general, but they still tend to offend certain people anyways once in a while and they do not much care about the outcomes. But I got to admit though, this place is not as bad as many of the other forums that exist on the internet, but I just want to point this out just for the new people here who are not aware yet of what sort of people post here, since I only found this out after a few months posting here. In the end though, we all have problems in some way or form.

Dude, with all due respect I’m going to post honestly. I have come to the conclusion that most women are lazy, spoilt, leeches looking for a male host to suck resources from.

Let’s face it I am working towards financial freedom too, but the difference is
1/ I am productive.

I’m one of those guys who can’t work, due to a medical condition, but do I care if one of you lashes out against that? No. You have a right to your opinion and the right to say it out loud.

Surely, I’ve said here enough to have offended somebody somewhere over my thousands of posts. Hell, even my humble forum signature will offend the s~~~ out of 40% of the US population and could possibly land me in prison in parts of Europe where the the raping camel f~~~ers roam.

Truth is absolutely more important than getting your feelings hurt. As the post above support, that seems to be the general opinion here.

From what I’ve seen, people here are just as, if not more, interested in learning and understanding what’s going on as they are about winning an argument or being well liked amongst their piers.

I don’t care for the way things are expressed here sometimes. For example, a child born of an unwed mother is sometimes referred to as a ‘turd bomb’ (or something similar to that). However, putting it in context and perspective, the desire to emphasize a point, makes the phrase much more understandable. Besides that, I have no right to place my values on other people (nor they on me) and focusing on the phrase means I will likely miss the point entirely.

The other type of ‘offence’ that comes up is when a poster dumps all other a commonly held belief with no semblance of respect for a differing opinion whatsoever. That might be Christianity, religion in general, pro-life, pro-choice, abstinence, non-abstinence, etc. I prefer to filter out the garbage to see if there is some sort of valid point in there. As well, a poster who comes in with guns blazing is often doing so because they are used to having their own views trashed. For example, an atheist will talk about ‘Sky Daddy’ because their used to being told they are going to hell. Responding to them with respect and logic, can off tone down their attack and bring in a rather constructive conversation.

I see this as incorrect. Not only that he’s targeting new members who haven’t formed their own impression of the board, he’s discounting all we say here as the work of those with mental illness and not being able to keep a job.

New members are the lifeblood of a board like this.

I also think defending yourself by saying “but I have a job” lends credence to the accusation.

But, on the other hand I’ve gone my own way so long, I really don’t give a s~~~ except this board is a great resource in sharing the experience of going your own way…by some very sane and knowledgeable.

Truth is not an offense. If anyone takes truth as an offense, well it’s their own damn problem.
Most of us here speak the cold hard truth, which is something very very rare these days. In fact, hearing the truth, even if it “hurts your feelings” is the best and fastest way to wake the f~~~ up and improve your life.
Recognizing and admitting a fault is the first and most important step in correcting it!
