Banksy strongly hints that he WAS behind the shredding of his iconic painting Girl With Balloon after it SELF-DESTRUCTS moments after it was sold for £1,042,000 at Sotheby’s
Famous piece Girl With Balloon was ruined by a remote device built in the frame
Banksy claimed in video he fitted shredder in case the painting was auctioned
Footage captured the moment shocked bidders gasped at the tattered painting————Ignore the artist wishes. Brilliant move on his part. Though it is most likely the only one that will ever happen. From now on auction houses will have a closer look at the frame.

In seconds someone’s investment rose by hundreds of percent.
The proud owner could now re-sell it for twice the price or more.proud carrier of the 'why?' chromosome

Anonymous12He’s a Left wing wanker anyway but he just managed to upset a lot of other Left wing wankers so all good.
Could the ‘winning bidder’ have been in on this stunt???
Really ??

Brilliant prank. Funny.
The art world is all bulls~~~ anyway. Banksy knows it.I bathe in the tears of single moms.
Saves me the trouble. Do you know how much matches cost these days?
Really ??
WHO CARES ?????????????I’m more curious than anything.
What was the point of the stunt? Why was the winning bid so high? I don’t see anything at all particularly impressive above the picture. I would just like to try and understand WTF all the fuss is about…
Smells like a publicity stunt to me, but I do find it interesting that, apparently, nobody who handled the piece noticed the extra weight of the mechanism and its power source.

You’d have to read his bio. He is a very avant-garde and unusual artist. Its part of Schtick. He’s anonymous and does mostly graffiti art, which by its nature can’t be bought and sold because its usually spray painted on a wall somewhere. So the possibility of owning any of his work is very remote. By destroying one of the few items that can be owned he is making a statement.
Art is a way to launder money.
You buy some worthless piece of s~~~ for a ton of money, then donate it to a museum
Write it off as charity.
Then you get most of that money back under the table from the art gallery and the artistproud carrier of the 'why?' chromosome
Correction: not to launder money, but to dodge taxes
