Baltimore is the big city with the highest per capita murder rate in the nation, with nearly 56 murders per 100,000 people. At 343 murders in 2017, the city tallied the highest per capita rate in its history. Columbus tallied 143 murders — 37 more than 2016 and the most the city has seen in a single year.

That is one reason among others why I seldom venture into Baltimore City.

They had this PR campaign some time ago where the tag line was “Baltimore, the city that reads”.

I always thought that “Baltimore, the city that bleeds” was more apropos.

I remember a few years ago when Youngstown, OH had this honor.

I lived near there at the time.

Here in the big city I currently live in, each day there are multiple deaths from car accidents, shootings, muggings, etc… at least that is how it seems every time I turn on the news.

No longer can we walk away, we must run. Remove the motive power.

Yup, Chicago banned guns too. Yet the gun violence went up after that. I’m just glad Detroit is not #1 anymore.

Correct. How could Baltimore possibly catch up to pro-gun places like East Tennessee? We are over here just shooting each other for fun and sport whenever we see each other. Our guns shoot anyone who comes out the door and they do it without anyone holding the grip. They have a mind of their own and they only want to shoot anyone they see. We just don’t know how to stop these guns from shooting people, it scares the hell out of me. I can’t go to work because a gun will shoot me as soon as I open my front door. I wish I could live somewhere safer like Baltimore where guns are all but banned. Those evil guns have destroyed East Tennessee and think about our CHIIIILDREEEEN! We have no schools because when we do, an AR-15 comes in and blows our kids away. Damned guns!
