This is something I ran across purely by accident, and I gotta say, I have hours of youtubes of all different sorts running each day while I do stuff and this is the first one I thought, “damn I gotta share this!”

Maybe these are just s~~~ty locks, I don’t know, but still great to watch. I used the ‘credit card’ trick to go through a heavy security door at a juvenile detention place once when I stupidly locked myself out of the office, so I can attest to that one working too, but it depends on the build of the door and placement of the door jamb.

I reinforced my deadbolts with steel pipe receivers that go through triple studs, also bump proofed locks, got the instructions off the internet. I know a s~~~load of lock tricks from towing cars, if I wanted to, I can literally steal certain cars faster without keys than with keys! I s~~~ you not!

Interesting, are there different kinds of sets? In an apocalpyse is there any point vs just crowbaring everything?

I don’t know s~~~ about locks, but every time I have to buy one, I always buy the most expensive specialty high security lock I can find. I spent like $150 for the padlock on my storage unit. I also installed a high security door and lock set for my house. That was close to $1,000.

I know the cheap s~~~ you can buy is basically worthless. It will prevent the bum off the street from wandering in, but it won’t do s~~~ against a real criminal. Heck, even the expensive s~~~ is no guarantee. There is NO way to keep a determined criminal from victimizing you. However if you make it difficult or too time consuming for them, they’ll probably give up and victimize someone else. You don’t have to have an impenetrable lock. Just a better lock than your neighbor.
