Attention Vampires

Was out recently at a range with a friend and his son doing some shooting. I brought my old standby m1 garand for some downrange round tossing and my new gal a marlin 1894. My buddy and his son brought their AR’s and his new baby a LNIB 338 Lapua Mag. More on that later.

Anyway. As we were shooting I noticed that every spare second he was not shooting the boy was on his iphone messaging like mad. I asked what was up and he said he was chatting with his GF. Uh huh… I pulled out a 50.00 bill. I asked him: “Tell your GF you have to go, father son stuff and log off. Your phone goes in my gun case and for the rest of the time we concentrate on tossing as much lead at a high rate of speed down range. He said: “Hell Yess!” Poor boy. He had no idea. His father just did a face palm and I smiled.

Three enjoyable hours later we had had lunch talked sports and were packing up. I gave him his phone back with a 50.00 wrapped around it. He turned it on and looked like someone shot him. 134 texts from his gf and 8 voicemail’s.

This is what young men have to deal with. Constant texting, calls and demands for attention. Young women today need constant attention and social validation. Smartphones and the internet are largely responsible for this and its increasing at a pretty speedy clip. We are developing a generation of female attention vampires and these bitches don’t sparkle.

In fact I know that if a young woman is interested in a man, you as the man, need friend her on Facebook and twitter before she even considers you. She will be stalking you online to determine your social status and relative resources so she can bring the golden vagina. That what you want? To be graded like fine wine and emptied as your wallet drains dry.

Now this is not the same as tinder or cupid where women swipe to get some hookups and free range c~~~. They of course are only looking to hook up with guys obviously out of their league because they “deserve the best”.

I would hazard a guess that if the cellular networks went down for a week that thousands of women would go completely mental because they would be cut off socially and don’t know any other way to keep tabs on their man. Men would rejoice at the lack of nagging and whining for attention. They might find out there is more to life than being slaved to a women through a smartphone.

How often have I been in the supermarket only to see the occasional husband or guy in a relationship, texting or on a phone asking their wife or gf what they need because they know if they didn’t ask they would be faced with psycho vagina at home. In reality the woman doesn’t care about the particular item he buys. Its about validating that they are in power and have control of the relationship.

Back to the story, my buddy gets a call from his wife asking what is wrong because her son’s GF called her and was asking if anything was wrong because she couldn’t get in touch with him.

Father and son roll their eyes. I’m laughing my ass off.

Back to the Lapua Mag. Holy sweet crap that thing is accurate. He placed 4 shots at 550 yards in a 1 inch group after he sighted it in.

I was trying out Winchester USA .44 Rem Mag 240 Grain JSP for my Marlin 1894. I was thinking of taking it out on a pig hunt, depending on the season next year.

As far as the Lapua Mag goes I don’t know what grain. He said he was using Federal gold medal matchking. He said each round was 5.00 each. (f~~~ me….)

I love the Garand–Patton was right about it. Among my collection is a WWII vintage inland .30 carbine. I don’t fire it much but what a wonderful gun. I was curious about the lapuda rifle–do you know the rifling twist ratio? Or the grains of the bullet? Actually $5 a round is a pretty good price believe it or not. He might want to take up re-loading, saves $$$ and often you can get better performance by varying the powder based on burn rate and weight of the bullet per barrel twist. I also own a couple of Schmidt-Rubens, a 1899 K-11 and a 1944 K31 they are also incredibly accurate. I put three shots within an inch of each other with the K11 at 75 yards using the iron sights—OK and a bench rest.

I gather wild pig is a seasonal thing where you live. Here in Florida its open season all the time. Since I live next to a swamp I get them wandering through my property from time to time. I’ll tell you what though; cornered they are really mean and surprisingly smart, and can move very fast for their bulk. I don’t eat the males. Unless you trap them and then feed them corn for a week or so then castrate them BEFORE killing them the meat tastes funny. Females on the other hand are delicious.Oddly the females are more aggressive than the males. Go figure.

As far as the Lapua goes, he said it had a Brux threaded barrel. I’m not up on the lingo so I assumed it was good because he was smiling. Given it was accurate enough to knock a fly’s pecker off at 100 yards I guess that was good. The grains I believe were 250 grain hollow point boat tail.

As far a pigs go, the season is just a matter of finding time off work and getting some friends together. With the pig bomb in the south we have no problem finding a guide. I did not know that about boars. I have only ever taken sow’s. Take them to a butcher and he preps the meat so we can pack it in ice and bring it up to a butcher in the northeast where he makes awesome sausage. The butcher gets one pig for his services. I figure he makes a few thousand selling “organic free-range” meat to his customers. 🙂

Yeah they have come into their sexuality and have realized that they can get men to do anything for them as long as they open their legs. Not boy crazy, they are power crazy. Then as their SMV goes down they have harder and harder time manipulating men until the hate sets in and then its cat lady time.

I’m afraid you’re spot on about these attention whores. The worst part is that they get the validation they want, and that leads to them wanting more and more. That’s why I more or less keep my life private. No Facebook, no bulls~~~.

I haven’t owned a phone with texting abilities for a decade now. Yea, I know, crazy, but that is how far I will go to make it impossible for any woman to text me, and with the added benefit that I am never expected to text anyone as well. S~~~, my phone is off 99% of the time anyhow as well.

I enjoy sitting in my tree stand. It’s over on the edge of my place near the treeline so I can walk a quarter mile. It’s quiet up there and nobody bothers me. I don’t carry a phone .. not even for safety, maybe I should but I don’t want to be wired. Yes, I carry a bow and keep a current license for tradition’s sake but really don’t plan on using it on any game. I might, I can .. but probably won’t. This year, I have a couple of targets scattered places around my stand .. just before I leave for the morning or evening, I practice, I just enjoy the target practice. Over time, I think I might be getting to be a fairly good shot. When I get home, breakfast or supper tastes better after spending time out in the cold sitting in my tree stand. Sometimes, I spend about an hour perched silently after dawn .. that’s when I tend to really see nature. I hit my practice targets and head back home to start my day.

134 and 8 voicemails is insane. I previously referred to my cell phone as an electronic leash, now I just leave it in my car and or my family room, and check it when I get around to it. His generation is perpetually connected and never at ease. You did him a greater good than paying him 50 bucks. I hope he learns the multiple lessons that were put in front of him, and he got paid to learn them.
