First of all, I would like to point out that getting furniture that you can assemble together can actually save you more money in the long run, even though it can be time consuming. My attitude in assembling furniture for the home is that it is a hobby that you can do at the same time, since it involves figuring where everything should be put with the aid of the instructions. Just today, I just embarked on the journey in assembling a real nicely priced coffee table together as soon as it arrived at my home. Some people do it to save money, some people do it as a hobby, some just do not like doing it but they do it to get it over with because they want the end result. This coffee table is the third thing in my life that I assembled together with little to no help at all, but doing this is really rewarding for me. What are all of your views on this topic? Did any of you also assembled a whole house full of furniture or anything also? Like imagine how much money you would save, even though you would put in all those hours. Looking forward to some people’s stories here.

I’ve assembled much furniture for fun and to save money.

To really save, purchase a challenging piece and have HER assemble it at HER place.
    Hold that line.
    Observe.
    Is her glass half full?
    Didn’t you pay for it?
It can’t be recognizable as a test or she’ll fight tooth and nail to do it on her own.
How does she put it off onto you?
    You’re her servant in training.
When you divorce, she’ll have emptied the house by cherry picking in your absence. She won’t take it with her -surprise surprise.
But She’ll want it counted against you in court calculations.
Or want you to do the selling and then she’ll expect 50%.
Or, have YOU sell it and you donate proceeds to charity so she’ll claim half toward her taxes.
Truly expensive stuff that you purchased for her, that she did enjoy, will be left behind by her because it reminds her of what a true c~~~ she has devolved into. And she’ll want it calculated against you.
    I’m over bitterness.
I don’t give a f~~~ enough to say the ubiquitous ‘no f~~~s given’

Just letting guys know what to expect, in that regard I care immensely.

The women in my life have always bitched at length about how strong and independent they are. Yet when it comes to doing anything vaguely technical, it’s always been handed off to me. Be it furniture, computers, vehicles or whatever.. Even if they do have the capacity to undertake these tasks themselves (let’s face it, flat pack furniture is not rocket science), it’s just easier to have a man do it for them. They don’t even seem to recognise their own hypocrisy, that’s the funny part. I guess that’s patriarchy for you.
