The two things in my eyes that I love and principles that guide me:
1. The Roman Empire
2. Sun Tzu’s Art of War
I am open for discussion, tell me what you love about the above two things, ask questions and let’s brainstorm! Want to make an old man happy, ask me for my opinion on these things. (Secretly loves to give advice/opinions)

Those that don’t know their history will fail.
Those that know their history can see/predict the future.

I also love the Roman Empire, so I will ask you what is your favorite period of the Empire? (you know, like the late times, the firsts Claudian emperors, the christian prosecution… ).
Mine are the Augustus period (is amazing that how one single man built an empire and become emperor) and the Five Good Emperors (Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius and Marcus Aurelius).
We are at the dawn of a New Era. We are the Vanguard.-Greg Honda.
Rome: For me the most exciting time is the fall of the republic and the rise of the empire.
Sun Tzu applies to all walks of life, not just to military strategy. It is a must read for anyone who wants to succeed in competitive endeavors.Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?
I would have to say that the crossing of the Rubicon marked the place where I would have loved to be along for the ride. From Julius Caesar onward would have been a great era to be a part of. Just the feeling of knowing that you had a hungry and ready for war Empire at your back. I always think of the quote from Gladiator where Maximus states something along the lines of “…..The world is dark, Rome is the light..”
Although, I have to say I do love Octavian. The way he outfoxed Anthony at sea was pure genius. I think Octavian is a prime example of a smart Roman Emperor that definately used the Art of War, even if he knew not the books themselves…

Couldn’t agree more!

And on another topic for you all: Battle of Endor, Through Sun Tzu’s eyes….
The Emperor: “Everything that has transpired has done so according to my design. Your friends, up there on the sanctuary moon, are walking into a trap, as is your Rebel fleet. It was *I* who allowed the Alliance to know the location of the shield generator. It is quite safe from your pitiful little band. An entire legion of my best troops awaits them. Oh, I’m afraid the deflector shield will be quite operational when your friends arrive.”
Seemingly Ol’Palpy had everything under control. He laid a trap. He chose his battleground in a way that would favour his forces. He controlled the battle on so many levels… Is the outcome in the movie Return of the Jedi an accurate one? Or is there a way to explain the loss of the Battle of Endor with the writings of Sun Tzu??

What do you have to say about the Art of War?
What do you have to say about the Art of War?
There is so much. The sheer genius of an ancient text that still applies to the modern day. In its pages you can adapt his teachings for resolving any conflict you would run into today. Such examples: Convincing someone to do something that you want to do, but letting them think it was their idea. Co-worker hogging all the spotlight? Wait until you have the time to do a project that you know you can do better than them, play on/subtly highlight their weaknesses. If you can’t win a battle in life, be patient, and wait for an opportunity where you can’t lose.

I don’t work with women. I do just do the best job I can.
48 Laws of Power & The Art of War … read them and elevate your mind and your life.
As for Rome … Constantine and the fall of Constantinople.
I don’t work with women. I do just do the best job I can.
Neither do I. That’s how a 40yr old like me can have a 25 year old girlfriend, play Xbox and basically do what I want. I think that the Art of War fits so seamlessly with the MGTOW lifestyle, because we as men don’t owe women anything. Women naturally use some of Sun Tzu’s tactics when they manipulate, but any man who knowingly follows those teachings, will always outfox the woman. If you can’t outfox the woman, you’re better off leaving them behind.

Ok, now looking at what the Emperor did, he seemed to do everything right. Lets list his good decisions:
1. Made it a defensive battle
2. Had numeric superiority
3. Controlled the venue/prepared the field of battle ahead of time.
4. He operated on deception and dropped a trail of breadcrumbs to Endor.
So, in everyone’s opinion, what did the Emperor do wrong??

crap. Now I’m gonna have to watch the movie again. I have a terrible memory. Old age ain’t so bad in this case 🙂
By the way, this is a TV mini-series that is great fun, and it is set in the times when Julius Caesar and Octavian were coming into power. I liked it so much that I bought the DVD set, gave it away, and bought another. Like The Godfather, I drag it out every so often and re-watch it.

Now that I think about it, I like pretty much all the stuff done by John Milius.

Yeah, i’ve seen a bit of this series, and it is awsome!! I have to download the whole thing at some point…
