Don’t be too hard on yourself. Sounds like you have a plan–now just execute your plan.

And I feel you, Brother. I’ve let myself go way beyond the point you’ve described. But I’m working on it.

WTF, you should be ashamed, when I let myself go I hit 120Kg thats 265lbs of pure FAT 🙂

Got Diabetes, depression, pretty f~~~ed up, after my divorce, I’ll never let another woman get under my guard like that again.

I went on 2 x protein shakes, meal replacement per day, for 2 months, constant walking in the morning before work, at my lunch break and after work, did the Stronglifts 5×5 program, now I’m 100kg, but I lift BIG weight, never been stronger, thick hard arms, strong core no back pain any more.

Compound Lifts, with plenty of protein was the trick for me.

Now I’m doing the Ketogenic Diet, in order to get ripped, I look big now but when I get ripped I’ll be unstoppable 🙂

I know I haven’t much a leg to stand on, but I know some simple truths. Garbage in, garbage out. And if you start training, do not over-extend yourself so you burn out the joy. That’s the major reason people quit training, because it seems more like a job than fun. Better to get it in small and fun doses frequently, than doing a major overhaul once in a blue moon. Good luck, in any case. 🙂

Diet is everything when it comes to weight loss. Make sure you eat on a schedule because the way the digestive system works, if you eat at a certain time of day, you will be more likely to be hungry that same time of day the day after. But if you aren’t eating a meal at that time, your stomach will actually learn to not expect food at that time. So a single night of having an extra midnight snack will set you up for wanting a midnight snack the next day, and conversely the more you stick to your schedule the more effortless it will be.

And I wouldn’t say “ignore hunger”. I would say learn to enjoy hunger as a sign that you are winning. It is a good feeling to be in control of your body.

Don’t do anything that you cant keep up for a while, don’t look for a diet go for a lifestyle, and learn to forgive yourself if you dont then it will get bad for you.

This is my go-to guy for understanding the physiology of weight loss.

“Shame” is defined by Oxford, dictionary of record, as “a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behaviour.”

Being overweight is not necessarily “wrong” or “foolish”. It is merely a reflection of one’s own preferences regarding how much one eats, and how much one moves. If one wishes to be fat, be fat; if one is and is not, remedy the matter as one pleases. However, this matter is not something that warrants disappointment in one’s self.

However, I am curious why you prefaced the title of this thread with “As a MGTOW…”. Last I checked, “going their own way” is not necessarily the same as “going the doctor’s way.”

    That’s interesting. A Man “fat-shaming” himself.

If it’s any consolation my motivation for going to the gym IS “fat shaming” myself. If I eat french fries, I am AWARE of it…. and I will get my ass to the gym and do a few extra sets, or hike an extra mile. Fat-shaming yourself is actually an excellent motivator! “I feel disgusting and need to sweat this s~~~ off”.

You think we skip to the gym because we think we look and feel perfect? Guess again!

The rest of society is perfectly content with this s~~~.

It’s GOOD that you’re not content with that and expect more from yourself.

“Im ashamed of myself” is not even something these fatties are capable of THINKING when splattering themselves on Facebook looking for fat validation. You’re not SUPPOSED to be proud when you put on 28 pounds. So don’t worry, you’re attitude is exactly right.

Seriously. It’s like the people who always try to stack the deck in their favor when they’re at a social gathering: If they’re in worse shape than person A, than at least they’re smarter than A and fitter than B, because person B is smarter but fatter and so on.

Go and do, OP. I’m in the process of building a home gym so I don’t even have to travel. Might be an option for you.

As an afterthought, I find that “fat validation” s~~~ a big DE-motivator.

It plants a thought in my head “jesus, why bother going to the gym when I can just let myself go and everyone on Facebook is going to tell me how fabulous I look”???????? It’s perfectly valid. According to that standard, If I allowed myself to turn into a blob, I would be worshipped!!!

F~~~ that. I would rather be in decent shape and be shamed for it. Bring it on. Freaks.

Or be able to climb up a set of stairs without passing out and being shamed for it. Seriously, the zombie apocalypse is going to be so easy if people don’t start taking care of themselves.

I felt the same but on the other scale the stress of staying in a marriage for my child sent me down to 10 stone… very low and pretty much wasted away, couldnt wouldnt and plain and simply didnt want to eat but like you im doing something about it.

Stay with what makes you happy not what you think others might expect from you, following this simple rule for me makes me a better father.

Cool story babe now go make me a sandwich
