For those who want a quick summary:

(1) It’s a interview with a radio show host (Australian) and a caller ,male from US who has got divorced.
(2) In essence, the caller was paying lawyers to destroy his life. $400/hr. His legal bills were $25,000. His ex was $50,000.
(3) They caller and his wife were both Catholic.
(4) Marriage/divorce has essentially been monetarized in the US.
(5) The caller seems quite calm and reasonable. His story was, married his wife who was pretty and nice initially. She eventually got fat and aged, and turned nasty. He got 50/50 custody of his kids though.
(6) The caller’s final bit of advice about marriage is that – there is no state in the US that you should get married. You should not be married for more than 10 years because then you pay lifetime alimony. Also, if you are stupid enough to want to get married, have a prenuptial. However this will be challenged by the State IF the State will have to pay welfare or support to either party (which is most average people).
