Isn’t it strange how many modern apple products contribute to the female desires such as the impulsiveness of sight and carelessness of pricing. Plus, a female can easily find out every nitch and cranny avalible. As for computers, software is not hard to install nor’ is how to use that type of software. The new release of the Apple Watch is contributing to women and women ONLY. Because it’s almost jewelry, and we all know how much women love Jewelry

Apple is all about the marketing.  They know exactly who to market to in order to maximize profit on their under powered, overpriced products.  It’s amazing how many people of low to no testosterone fall for the Apple trap.  However, if you invest in stocks, Apple is great.  There is no limit to the stupid who will buy their products.

It does seem like they are dumbing things down in order to cater to women who otherwise (largely) wouldn’t be able to figure out how to work them. Not just OSX but Windows as well and that cloud crap.

Seems that in the mad quest to cater to them, what constitutes “technical” is now social media and mobile devices.

I happen to like Apple computers. I think their OS is the best out there. I’m just too cheap to spend that much. They burned me in the past with their planned obsolescence ploy. Now, I buy the cheapest one in the store knowing I’ll have to discard it in a few years.

I’m a long-time Apple owner and user.  I haven’t been too happy with that company for several years, particularly after it became a toy company, starting with the iPod.  I had a dual-processor G4 which went wonky on me and Apple was of no help to me whatsoever.  Its policy of not selling spare parts to end users prompted me to move toward open-source hardware and software.  I do most of my work with either Linux or FreeBSD now.

Once I find a suitable equivalent to FileMaker in Linux or FreeBSD, I’m decommissioning my iMac, thereby ending my relationship with Apple.

HA….there are you telling something. I am always kidding with my co-workers using their iPhones, I call it women phones…ohoh….funny discussions going on then.

I did the OS-X Server Administration several years ago for nearly two years. The Servers are o.k., easy to update and the Hardware upgrade is also simple…modular concept, but with HP Servers I have more fun.  I do not use the Apple stuff. A long time ago, I  had a friend who has an iMac G3, we named it the the smooch ball. I don’t care about it..LOL.

    either Linux or FreeBSD

My nephew showed me linux he’s using. I’m so p~~~ed off at windows 8, I returned the social butterfly box the next day, after spending hours in confusion (feminism). My brother redid W8 to operate and look like 7. I wish I had the time and inclination to preform a lobotomy the way he did. The W8 is what I dubbed to be: “Girly butterfly box”, I’m not going to be held hostage by this trend, I’m willing to learn another op system, I’ll try linux, it’s free, just like firefox, and it KICKS ASS over explorer. When will these corporations learn that men are buyers too? NEVER……

I once had a friend who had a computer he found in someones garbage, it was pretty messed up, so we decorated it with markers and tape. We called it the “ghetto box”. Unfortunately it has become the ark of the covenant of computers now and it’s whereabouts are currently unknown. Perhaps it’s lost to time and will never be seen again.

I forsaw the trend towards dumbing down Windows and technology in general, 8 years back. That’s when I started preparing for the apocalypse.

Also I wouldn’t necessarily get too comfortable with Linux either because…
Phoronix: Fedora Is Looking For A Diversity Advisor.

What a surprise eh? The fools have shown up to spread their filth in open source, just like they do to everything else nowadays.

Yeah I knew once it became mainstream the usual suspects would be along to defile it in short order

It looks like we may have to do some jumping about to find an untouched OS.  I’ve fiddled a bit with OpenIndiana but I don’t like it as much as I do FreeBSD.  There was one that was an off-shoot of OI, but the developer went off the rails and started posting all sorts of rants and conspiracy theories on the OI mailing list.  I don’t remember its name right now but it doesn’t matter as he’s closed the site down.

I’ve been keeping an eye out for new stuff, but there isn’t that much because Linux eclipsed everything else and resources that could of been used to write new operating systems were instead used by people to create spin off’s of Linux that were mostly just rebranding and repackaging.

OpenIndiana/Illumos never got much love, last I checked it wasn’t even developed anymore, but it’s good parts were scavenged for other operating systems.

I think the guy you are talking about was named Martin and he was the sole developer of the OpenSXCE project, which never really went anywhere. The facebook page is filled with tons of stuff about political events and nothing to do with the project. There are other OS’s out there too like icaros, haiku, etc. But their development is usually glacial and stability is not guaranteed.

My only idea to avoid all the crap is to find something either out of reach (architecture dependent) or something that is obscure like Ecomstation.

There’s still some activity on the OpenIndiana mailing list, but, yes, it seems to be somewhat dormant.  OpenSXCE sounds like what I referred to.

Ecomstation is new to me, so I might have a look at that some time.  Thanks for the tip.

Keep in mind that Ecomstation is OS/2 rebranded and supported by a third party, but it is really quick. Can’t remember if it came with much in the way of software or not.

Pity.  I rather like Unix and its derivatives.  As well, both PC-BSD and FreeBSD have a large number of ports one can load and install.

I’ve tried a few flavors (Mint, Ubuntu, Red Hat) of Linux but found that I had to spend more time than I had trying to get any kind of software install to come through (using WINE in most cases). In school when I was going through the Linux classes we spent more time troubleshooting than seeing things work. The Linux books were brand new but it seemed that the new patches and updates broke the step by step lesson processes. These days I have to run 8.1 on my Surface but I have a Virtual Machine (VM) of Kali (Backtrack remix) that I like to use to learn more about Networking and to secure my network.

I am Beta testing Windows 10, and it does have the Fru-fru look with the addition of the start bar. I do like how Windows 8 and ten has a media emulator built in. And I do like the Cortana feature as well of Windows 10. What I don’t like and is a perfect reason to get off of Windows products is the Personal Agent that is Bill Gates Project and records everything you do for “ease of use”. I plan to just use a VM on it to hide all the porn I watch (there’s a few things I’ve seen out there I’d click on out of curiosity and would not want any trace to be remembered by my PC) .

The personal agent article is below for your viewing pleasure.

Many distributions maintain repositories for software, whether it’s libraries or actual programs.  They can be readily downloaded and installed.  For those not kept there, often those can be downloaded from sites such as Sourceforge.  I’ve done that for software I use for controlling my satellite radio.

Why is it MGTOW technology discussions end up talking about Linux and other Open Source things? 😀
