Why, which ones, what about them? New ones old ones?

Anonymous6I don’t like the old Japanese movies just because I can’t get passed the production of them. But the Godzilla movie in 1998, I really liked it. I know it gets bad reviews, but it’s underrated to me. I enjoyed it. I also liked the 2014 Godzilla. I thought it was an interesting twist on the story, and look forward to the new ones in the coming years.
I even remember when it was a cartoon on Saturday mornings. Both of those were great.
But the Godzilla movie in 1998, I really liked it.
I thought I was the only one that like that movie.
That movie had a lot of good things with it. Good cast. Nice plot twists. And a wonderful chase scene at the end.
Anonymous24I saw most of them as a kid, but can’t remember much about them other than the fights and destruction of cities. Like Venom I was ok with the 98 version, haven’t seen the 2014 one.
Hitman should be showing up in this thread soon I am guessing…
I like the old Japanese movies best. The guy in the rubber suit who uses judo against the “alien” monster, and smashes Tokyo flat in the process. There is nothing like the classics.
BTW, the “original” Godzilla was better, IMO, than the one that stuck Raymond ‘Ironside’ Burr in the middle of it. It’s hard to find but worth the effort.
Full disclosure: I am a big fan of lots of Japanese flicks that are somewhat inscrutable (to say the least) by Western standards. However, Godzilla #1 (without or with Mr. Burr) is a top-rated monster flick on my list.

Jan, I’m a TOTAL Godzilla fan. And if they keep making them as good as those last two, then I’ll see every single one they make.
In fact, I only own five movies, and two of them are the last two Godzilla movies. They’re comfort movies for me, like digging into a big, saucy pizza.
This week, someone on a Reddit thread I was reading said they are making a King Kong v Godzilla right now, and that the Godzilla is from the newest movie, the one with Bryan Cranston.
When Godzilla rips open the MUTO’s jaws and blows radioactive hellfire and brimstone down its throat, man, that just f~~~ing MAKES that movie.
King Kong vs. Godzilla, there’s a thought!

Anonymous43I love gziller movies for the model tanks and cities
omg all that work just to get stomped on by some dude in a lizard suit!
Hahaha!does the Pope s~~~ in the woods???
I saw all the Godzilla movies as a kid. .in my opinion the older ones were the best!
Pure escapism with an awesome fire breathing radioactive monster, destroying Tokyo again and again. .The kid in me still appreciates these movies.
Start with the first one and keep going. ..Hahaha!does the Pope s~~~ in the woods???
I saw all the Godzilla movies as a kid. .in my opinion the older ones were the best!My all time favorite is the one where the skinny Japanese chicks were wearing coconut brassiers and doing an erotic pagan dance to get Godzilla to wake up and defeat the monster of the week.
It is true that the classics cannot be surpassed!

The two miniature twins singing to awake mothra..
Very cool! !!I like the old Japanese movies and don’t like the American one of 1998.
Happiness for all and let no one be forgotten ("Roadside picnic", Arkady and Boris Strugatsky)
The two miniature twins singing to awake mothra..
Very cool! !!The classics rule! Hesiod, Homer, roll over in your graves! There is nothing like a Japanese Godzilla flick!
By the way, @hitman, that logo of yours is reviving some memories…

That was my favorite part of that movie
Enjoyed the new Godzilla movie, looking forward to the future King Kong movie then the crossover.

My ringtone is the Godzilla roar. I always know when it’s my phone that’s ringing.
F~~~ing love Gamera too.

You really have to see daikaiju films on a big screen for the full effect. It also helps to consider them a form of theater more than a movie. It’s like the original King Kong. Compared to modern special effects it’s pretty cheesy, but the story is still awesome. They’re classics.
BTW, the “original” Godzilla was better, IMO, than the one that stuck Raymond ‘Ironside’ Burr in the middle of it. It’s hard to find but worth the effort.
Agreed. I saw the original version first, but the second time it was the Americanized version. I was all like: “The f~~~ is Perry Mason doing there?”
This week, someone on a Reddit thread I was reading said they are making a King Kong v Godzilla right now,
That would be REmaking it. The Japanese already did Godzilla vs. King Kong back in the 1960s. To be honest, though, it looked more like Godzilla vs. a very bad bigfoot costume.
Which gives me an idea: Godzilla vs. Bigfoot would be AWESOME.
My colleague at work bought me an inflatable Godzilla (3 feet high) and a little figurine for my desk, because I constantly keep (jokingly) threatening people with: “…… or I get Godzilla to sit on your house or car”. or “…… or I get Godzilla to have a walk in your garden”. I always threaten with visits of Godzilla in some kind.
Like the old Godzilla movies… surely strings attached and badly retouched.Ah, women. They make the highs higher and the lows more frequent. Friedrich Nietzsche
