I have been into it for about 2 or so years. Have two 5 card rigs one Nvidia one AMD. Its a fun hobby that pays for itself with a chunk of change left over I have been reinvesting into Alt-coins. Mostly Ethereum, Bitcoin cash, Litecoin and Zcash.
Got into it about 4 years ago when I bought Bitcoin as a hedge against ransomware. Then bitcoin took off and got my attention. It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion, it is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning; it is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.

Anonymous42All my equity is being devoured by a rust-belt collapsed housing market, around here we build then burn to prevent the government from making all the profits on our labor while we get nothing.
You know the motto; thievery, injustice, and nothing for all!

I do not have the computing power to mine. S~~~, I cannot even get Coinbase and GDAX to let me trade.

Congratulations on your 1000% + return.
This s~~~ is so complicated I don’t even know how to create a safe wallet of my own. Again, I am trying to get into Coinbase and GDAX just to get some coin so that I can play around. We will see what happens and I will PM you when I f~~~ it up. /bail me out brother Ha./
Nope. My newest PC has been sitting in a box for 3 years — a Q6600 machine I built over 10 years ago (though I have, in the past, had it running at 3.6 GHz with no sign of instability). My only option for “high-speed” internet service (a relative term at that) is a satellite ISP, which means a very low monthly data cap.
If you’re mining bitcoin, asic is much better than gpu mining. But if you want flexibility to mine other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum that aren’t asic compatible, gpu mining is the way to go. It just costs a lot more to power a gpu rig which eats into profits over time. But if you make enough to pay for your hobby, that’s better than throwing money away i a relationship 🙂
Yeap. Got a buddy who is big into asic mining with 32 bitmain S9 units. Holy s~~~ those things are LOUD, suck 1350 watts per unit and run damn hot. He spends 3500.00 a month in electric. However after paying the electric bill he still clears 12,000 a month. He has the cost of the units paid off thanks to the surge in bitcoin so now he is soaking in the gravy train.
Me, I like the alt-coins, so I use GPU’s. I also have a lot less so my electric bill is not a monster. My buddy lives off his bitmain miners. Me, its just a hobby. It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion, it is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning; it is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
