I’m taking an XML class and the current project we’re working on is a pain in the b~~~~. I swear half the stuff wasn’t covered in lectures, or if it was it wasn’t explained worth a damn.
I basically have to take an XML document and convert it with XSLT to HTML.
I understand quite a bit of it but there are a few things I’m stumped on.
If anybody on here could take a look at it and see if I’ve done things bass ackwards, I’d appreciate it more than a fat woman at an all you can eat buffet.
Here’s a link to all the pertinent files.

The html file is what the XSLT file should produce if code correctly.
The Children of Doom... Doom's Children. They told my lord the way to the Mountain of Power. They told him to throw down his sword and return to the Earth... Ha! Time enough for the Earth in the grave.I don’t know if this would be considered cheating but if you have Microsoft office 12 or above it is as easy as opening it in Word then saving it as HTML or if you have trouble or if you wish to have it in HTML 5 open it in outlook save as a draft drag-and-drop to your desktop then open it with your notebook or word processor and copy the code into your editing program and it will be coded in HTML 5.

I’ve already turned it in for partial credit because I didn’t finish before the deadline. I just want to know if my thought process was completely wrong when approaching the problem.
I tend to make programming 10x harder than it needs to be by whatever approach I take.
The Children of Doom... Doom's Children. They told my lord the way to the Mountain of Power. They told him to throw down his sword and return to the Earth... Ha! Time enough for the Earth in the grave.I hate XML. But I can work with it and have created video and audio playlists using it
But you’re right. It’s a pain in the ass.You want to “parse” XML using XLST.

I would use PHP myself to scrape the file and write out another type of file from it. Like reading an XLS document and creating a properly formattet CSV from it. Have done that many times. I would do this for you, but I would charge you like a F~~~ING MILLION dollars because I’m just not into it. No offense It’s your class. (Im just saying that to be hilarious. )
If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.Sorry I’m not an expert of just trying to outline a quick way for you to get it done. To be brutally honest there’s so many programs out there now what does that for you it’s barely worth knowing most of the program languages. You just end up chasing around bugs or day in a program or data server don’t get me wrong they will pay you good to do it, but it wouldn’t interest. Me if I do anything I do it in HTML 5.
If you really have a hard question send email to the guys who keep this website going their super-dynamos.

Do you mean open the xml file in Word?
The Children of Doom... Doom's Children. They told my lord the way to the Mountain of Power. They told him to throw down his sword and return to the Earth... Ha! Time enough for the Earth in the grave. If you have the presented format open in Internet Explorer or other program, you can cut and paste the format into Word in web mode then copy and paste into an open HTML Outlook email if you save it to draft it will automatically convert the format into HTML 5 open that in anything you want it retains the original format but it is in HTML 5 script.

I tried using word 2013 and 2016 and they both strip away all the code and just leave you with the remaining text when you open up the xml file.
The Children of Doom... Doom's Children. They told my lord the way to the Mountain of Power. They told him to throw down his sword and return to the Earth... Ha! Time enough for the Earth in the grave. That would be because you don’t have it in HTML email mode. Open new email set it to HTML, paste into HTML email then save as draft.

I put gmail in basic html mode, cut and pasted the xml from notepad into a new email and saved it as a draft. Is that what you mean?
Still looks like the XML.
The Children of Doom... Doom's Children. They told my lord the way to the Mountain of Power. They told him to throw down his sword and return to the Earth... Ha! Time enough for the Earth in the grave.Sorry I thought we were talking about Outlook it’s what you need to use. But remember this is a quick fix for simple things and if you’re serious about copying content you need to remember that you will have set the destinations for buttons.
Another good way to get things quickly you like in HTML 5 format make a free website with WIX bill due geometric shapes and buttons then open up script mode copy the script and paste it into notepad and save. It will give you all HTML 5 script format you need and you have a base format you can use and reuse which you only have set destination addresses.

I think I might have given the wrong description, so I just want to make sure.
I want to take an html file and find a way to see the xslt that was used to create it. The XSLT is the code I’m trying to obtain.
If that’s what you are giving me tips on doing then I’ll wait until I’ve got access to outlook.
The Children of Doom... Doom's Children. They told my lord the way to the Mountain of Power. They told him to throw down his sword and return to the Earth... Ha! Time enough for the Earth in the grave.Looks like we did get our wires crossed as Outlook only converts to HTML 5 nothing else. But all of the base languages you’ve commented about all still use addresses on databases for pictures PDFs and the like. The source of this information does not have to be sophisticated basic PHP is good for that.
The reason why I use HTML 5 is because it combines all of the advantages in one language but it will always need a base address for all graphics and interactive components.
If you’re more interested in electronic and automated documents Microsoft office Word allows for this using the developers tap but its base language will be in Micros and XSL but it has been a long time since I used this function so double-check before proceeding. Also Adobe allows you to create the same document in PDF form but it does get complicated but it is easier for the user and translating it back into data.
Ultimately you have to find what works best for you. Both styles work with the VTiger but that is the extent of my knowledge. So go to a social programmer of blog see if you can get further information.

I know s~~~ about this, but thought this comment was hilarious. Good on you for getting a laugh out of a frustrating situation.

I just want to be able to take the HTML file, run it through a program and have it generate the XSL that created it.
It would be helpful to see how I was supposed to code in order to get the result of the assignment.
Perhaps it isn’t possible.
