    Hey fellas!

Was wondering if any one on these lovely forms works within the health and fitness area of employment. Since my University studies which begin this year lead into that field of work was wondering if any one on here was already working in the industry ?

Hello casualguy, Im new to the forums so I just saw your post today. I dont specifically work in the fitness industry, but I have very close friends that do, one is involved in the sale and distribution of all fitness equipment to the major clubs in north america the other is a high end personal trainer specifically for elite amateur, and professional athletes. As a NCAA athlete myself im very familiar with the industry. friend number one who works as a sales rep makes 80-100k a year, traveling and closing deals with club owners, but its almost entirely commission based and club owner are known to be real pricks. friend number 2 who works as a trainer, makes $100 hour and is very in demand, however 35-40% of that is taken by the club he works out of and he is in the top 1% of trainers. However he recently went his own way and is training clients out of his own 3000 square foot studio and making bank. The industry itself from what I hear is completely about sales and maintaining memberships, not about fitness, and the politics, egos and cut throat atmosphere make the larger clubs hell to work at. There is also a huge issue of (lack of) ethics in the fitness industry. If your determined to do this take the entrepreneurial route, or work to own or manage a franchised club.

KingoftheSea is a disgruntled gym employee. I don’t know if that would work.

It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything
