I am partial to aks, and do not want to go AR, that said I have some money burning a hole in my pocket. I want to either get a nice bolt action or another AK. I currently have an arsenal sgl21. I have a pawn shop with a new SAM7 for 1200$, is it worth it? What about cheap wasrs at like 550$?
Thanks for any tips.
I recommend avoiding pawn shops and going to gun dealers. Because gun dealers tend to know more about firearms.
Though, at the end of the day it is what you want versus what you can afford, with quality versus quantity.
I recommend finding a good rifle that is well made and popular. So, if it does need to be repaired in the future, the parts for the weapon are more cheaply available.
I found a brand new M1A at a pawn shop and snatched it up, sometimes you get lucky.
Whatever you buy remember the cost of ammo, 7.62×39 (AK) is pretty cheap compared to 5.56 and 308
2 AK’s are always better than one!

Well there are a lot of semi-automatic guns out there. I would start looking here.
Depends on what you would be using it for. Semi-auto is good for pig/boar hunting or good for home defense or good for fun target shooting.
Find a good gun range. You pick up lots of tips from longtime users.

Whatever you get, get a Slide Fire bump stock for it. BATF legal and basically turns it in to full auto. Very kick ass.

Tell us a little more about your objectives and interests. We could get ya closer. In the last 6 or more years, I haven’t seen a real AK for sale even. I got to the game too late. I’d like to have an original, even if it’s one of the lesser country of origin ones. Now all that is out there is the ones pieced together with new stocks. Don’t like that. I’m an original guy when it comes to old weapon designs.
WASRs are ok, I have one, but I’d be prepared to put parts into it. Most have a s~~~ty single hook sear that’s usually worn to s~~~, so spend a bot and put a new double hook in. I’d also get a new recoil spring because they also tend to be f~~~ed. Most owners beat the s~~~ out of their WASR because its such a cheap gun that its easy to put million rounds through it and not give a f~~~ if it breaks. I paid $525 for mine and it came with 6×30 rnd mags (2 steel, 4 composite) and a couple hundred rounds of ammo. When I got it was firing a lot of runaway shots and jamming, but a $25 trigger group and $18 +P Wolf recoil spring later and it fires great.
I also swapped the brake, and wood furniture for a Kicklite piston based recoil reduction stock, an AK quad rail, and a vertical fore grip that opens up and telescopes to double for bipod shooting. It still has the bayonet lug, but the new muzzle brake is hexagonal and the bayonet needs to be modded so it will fit.
As most anti gun people claim, this is entirely to aggressively compensate for a micro penis.
EDIT: All that dirty gun-talk DID give me a bit of a chub.

Get an SKS innawoods special. Seriously though I don’t see anything wrong with another AK platform, but we kinda need a bit of what you want the gun for as an operating platform.
For instance you may want a bigger caliber and dislike the AR having a 5.56 instead of the AK’s 7.62. If you don’t want an AR, you clearly aren’t interested in customizing the gun with furniture perhaps or don’t care about distance shooting groups past 300′ because you aren’t going to hunt with it, and want reliability.
Is that what you want with your next gun? Shoot s~~~ for fun? Because I think another AK is simply a good idea unless you want a designated marksman rifle like mentioned earlier M1A by Batman.
You get to keep the same ammunition that you already have on your other AK is a huge bonus.
If you’ve got a little cash to drop and you decide you want a bolt-action, I’m a big fan of Winchester Model 70.
Ammo can be cost prohibitive if you’re trying to see how fast you can perforate something, but they’re perfect for hunting or accurate long-range marksmanship.- AuthorPosts
