I’m trying to shed a few pounds. Actually quite a few. Any good advice? I’m walking the dogs and taking priobiotic supplements but other than that could use some advice.

Anonymous42Eat less.
1. Believe in yourself.
2. Drink water. Your body will mistake dehydration for hunger.

1 – Avoid carbohydrates. Eat veggies for health reasons, otherwise, stick with protein. Protein is more filling and takes more energy to digest. Your body needs it for growth and can be converted to energy to take the place of missing carbs.
2 – Do not go on a temporary plan. Make changes that you can stick with. Your body is built for survival, so if it is starved, you’re metabolism will slow, reducing weight loss. When you start eating more again, you’re body will retain as much as possible to prepare for the next starvation session. Your body needs to be conditioned to the constant state in which you want to live under.
3- Be careful with weight loss pills and such. Much of them are loaded with caffeine and such to raise your metabolism…and can cause heart issues.
4 – Count your calories. It’s rather easy to feel like you’ve reduced your calories, when in reality, you haven’t. It’s not a bad idea to count protein, carbs and fat too, if you’re up to it. There are apps out there that can help with this. Get a kitchen scale.
5 – Understand that while exercise does burn calories, it is not as much as you think. It is much easier to eat less then it is to exercise more. Although there are exercises that burn more, the best reason to exercise is for it’s health effects.
Ok. Then do it.
It just takes time, and persistence…

Pre-cook your meals for Monday to friday in one go.
It saves loads of time and reduces the temptation to eat unhealthy food.
Make lifestyle changes, don’t ‘diet’. The basic formula is eat less than you burn in activity. Males need 1500ish calories /day for basic living. So you need to look at what you’re consuming on an average daily basis. To loose 1 lb you need to create a 3600 calorie deficit and I think it’s said that 4 pounds lost per week is a healthy rate that won’t cause your body to counter-act by slowing your metabolism down. The most important thing about physical activity is to do what you enjoy or find new things that you enjoy, if you hate the treadmill then don’t use that as a form of exercise or you’ll not do it.
Any good advice?
Get divorced. You’ll loose 200 pounds of unwanted lard.

It’s 80% diet.
Forget diets, fads and all those pills.Whole food plant based nutrition is the way to go. Avoid all/as many animal products as possible. Not only will the weight come off but your health will improve. If you don’t exercise start. If you do keep it up. Good luck bro.
Peace is > piece.
Good advice and a pleasingly high quick volume of responses. These forums are good and lively.
Yeah I keep looking for technological solutions when it really is just about not stuffing my face.
I’ve got a decent pair of scales and I am making progress. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Consider taking a Vitamin D supplement. It helps to speed up the burning of fat and preserves muscle during dieting.
You don’t want to over do it though. 1000 -2000IU per day is plenty.
In addition, 30 ml of Coconut oil per day reduced stomach fat in men.

PS. Hope this helps but don’t skip on the healthy diet and exercise. Avoid processed foods.

Moderation in everything.
Food, exercise, sleep, rest (which is different than sleep), and stimulation.
I usually have an extremely high metabolism, that I can lower when I concentrate on it.One just has to decide whether they want to lose weight, or lose weight in a healthy manner. Moderation is the key for me, your mileage may vary.
There was a time in my life when I gave a fuck. Now you have to pay ME for it
Cheers.
Move to Venezuela. People have lost about 9 kilos (approximately 20 pounds) due to the wonderful socialist economy.

Anonymous1Cut the meat. No more dining out.
I have lost a ton of weight over the past year year . And still I ate like a King for cheap. Learning the the art of cooking at home. only twice i have failed at creating an ediable meal.
Eat less.
Calories. Eat less calories. The volume & weight of food can increase as long as the # of calories decreases.
Also, be patient. Losing 1 pound per week is about as high as you can go while not having any ill health effects. So if you want to go from 200lbs -> 150lbs, it’ll take you 50 weeks.
If you can be more specific about your goals we can probably help you better. But if you’re only interested in losing fat, it’s all in the kitchen. You don’t even need a gym for that.
Balance = calories in vs. energy expended. Tip your scale correctly.
A 3500 calorie deficiency per week will shed approximately 1 pound.
1 lb per week is plenty fast.figure 13.7 calories per pound per day just to lay in bed and go to the toilet.
Whatever your daily needs are, feed yourself, just up the energy expended.Reduce the red meats, load up on fish, nuts, fowl for proteins, eggs, some grains, some dairy, berries and greens. Low oils and high fiber (Ground seeds) and plenty of water.
Stay away from your allergens, limit glutens. Don’t deny yourself, moderation or micro limits.YUP, ^^^ make it a lifestyle not a diet.
Don’t eat OUT. Nearly ZERO processed foods. No snacks in a bag. Nearly no sugar, salt, low breads, limited alcohol (yup ratso but not abstain, NO tobacco).
No women – really, they take your time money and eat like s~~~ and not willing to share my happiness, my outdoors or my serenity; total interruptions.BMI Normal is pretty rough and many many people and healthcare professionals don’t respect it (maybe because we are fat and lazy too) but they still tag you with a clinical diagnosis of overweight.
SBMI modifies the BMI ratio for age, sex, asian/non-asian. SBMI=SmartBMI.Before the Divorce I topped out over 243 lbs.
Now, 38 months later and at 168 lbs so I made the 70 lb club and BMI Normal ONLY SO I CAN SHOVE MY WEIGHTSLIP UP THE DOCS AHOLE>!
yes yes MOTIVATIONS are MANY. Had the best blood evaluation ever this year.I LIVE TO trail hike and motorcycle camp.
For me, I expend about 100 calories per mile over normal eating+activity.
30-50 trail miles per week @ 3.2 – 4.8 MPH
At work I’m a blur and put out a lot of energy. Walk fast and walk a lot between departments. Love my job and its a joy to bust my butt. And don’t get me wrong, MY real rewards are vacation time and that promised land called RETIREMENT. I’ll work between one and 5 yrs after the alimony is done. I’m conditioned in mind, money and health at this time. I am winning this game of bulls~~~. I WANT to live and am living well. NO ONE is snatching my happiness or my enjoyment away EVER.I can’t and hate exercise for exercise sake, but hiking is enjoyable. I cannot gym. Not a sporter. I like my bicycle but spanks, hiking is fundamental.
I eat well and eat small. It will knock you down to understand how little energy we really need. (but in reality we say calories when they are actually kilo-calories)I’ll juice- store bought low sodium. I may have a popcorn dinner once or twice a week. I may try making kefir, fermented milk. Not unlike yogurts.
still trying to figure it better, love the journey.
I actually don’t count calories, just summarize them and Hike accordingly.
Weigh myself 3 times a day to stay focused and rewarded.
I will get to where I want to go and stay.
And do it.with joy/without hate
Eat meat, vegetables, and drink water. No sugar, no flour, no grains, NO F~~~ING SODA. I’ve lost 20 lbs in 45 days doing this.
Awesome help guys
I’m currently around 177lbs which is bad because I’m only 5″6.
I’ll keep you updated on my progress. I am losing a bit though.
Portions: Smaller meals and eat more often, you shouldn’t ever feel so full that you become tired, or have trouble breathing or feel like your splitting at the seams. Smaller amounts digest quicker and less of the food is stored as fat.
Diet: Most men in western society eat like s~~~ or did at one point. I used to eat a piece of fruit every couple days but you honestly should have 1-4 a day as well as 1-4 vegetables daily. Cut back on red meat, and make meals from home more instead of eating out. When I say diet I don’t mean temporarily these should be permanent changes you make if you value your body.
Weight Lifting: Muscle literally eats fat, and it eats fat when you’re not working out for up to 72 hours after your last workout, it’s literally like cheating.
Hydration: Drink enough water daily, and while we’re talking about drinking, cut back on sugary drinks, beer and sweet alcohol. Red wine and hard liquors ok.
Rest: Get enough sleep daily whether it’s 6 or 9 hours everyones different but most people don’t get enough.
Stress: Take a deep breath, people give to much of a s~~~ about the world, let it go.
