Hey guys,
It’s been a while since my last post.  As some of you may or may not remember I was studying for my USMLE Step 1 at the time.  I have since then taken the exam and begun my 3rd year of medical school…anyways to the topic at hand.  I don’t know if anyone here watches the survival show Naked and Afraid.  But I’ve recently taken an interest in it.  The premise of the show is “if you leave a man and a woman naked in the wilderness with 1 choice of survival items each…will they survive?”

I find it interesting because in most cases the show goes something like this.  Man is introduced, usually has some background in survival situations.  Woman is introduced and state their survival background, but almost all of them say some version of this- “I hope they don’t expect me to just sit back and tend the fire or do womanly chores because I’m not going to be okay with that…I’m a strong woman! Rah!”

Except guess what….it almost always devolves into the men doing the hunting and the women bitching.  That being said there are a few exceptions…as there are almost always in life…where the man is actually the incompetent one and the woman ends up pulling the weight.  The most recent incarnation of this show Naked and Afraid XL features a slew of previous contestants who are divided into 4 3-person teams.  One of the teams has this poor bastard named Shane- who is paired with two females.  They used him, mocked him, and bullied him to the point where he leaves their group…and then when he finds that he can’t do it on his own they pretty much refuse to help him!

THIS IS AFTER THE MAN BUILT THEIR SHELTER! HELPED GATHER THEIR FOOD! AND WENT OUT OF HIS WAY TO NOURISH ONE WHO FELL ILL!

I was frankly disgusted by this antisocial behavior…but I can’t say I was shocked.  I guess this is what you can expect, he was stuck with some scheming and conniving women…and he didn’t know how to handle it.  Frankly though I feel bad for Shane, he’s a clear Beta.  He calls himself an Alpha, but at one point he states “I never got approval from my mom so yes I’m always seeking/craving a woman’s approval”….how can he say that and still call himself Alpha.  The guy does have issues, I mean he’s a classic case of Borderline Personality Disorder…he’s overly emotional, impulsive, and incredibly hypersensitive.  But all that being said he still does get things done.  Anyways the links to the 1st 4 episodes of the season are below- Episode 4 is the one that picks up immediately after he’s left camp…and they openly mock him on camera.

I suggest watching the first 3 episodes to get better context.  Also in episodes 1 & 2 you will see the actions of one of the most vile creatures to walk the earth.  This she-bitch, Honora, literally purposefully sabotages her teammates by tossing what little survival gear they have into a river before quitting on them.  But that’s another story…I really just wanted your guy’s opinion on Shane and what y’all think he could have done to handle this situation better.

It’s truly despicable how Shane’s advice is by a great majority help full, the delivery of said advise is what angered those c~~~s, such as the turtle situation. For f~~~’s sake if you see anything in the wilderness in Colombia, regardless of how densely populated it is with animals, is difficult enough, catching would in-fact be a blessing in a situation where you desperately need protein. Sad how a dude that not only makes the effort to treat them nicely, is also holding back his rage against these bitches, yet they shame him relentlessly. He SHOULD have done better on his own, but it might be the fact he realized the show he was in practically worships women, or that he felt responsible for the sorry pieces of s~~~. I apologize about the language, but it is very frustrating seeing someone go through that bulls~~~, and not be allowed to break some noses.

I appreciate the insight guys…fact is I agree with most of y’all.  Yes he should have done better on his own and personally I think he should have taken charge right off the bat.  Make the bitches get up and do work from the beginning…or simply separate FROM THE BEGINNING! But that’s just me.  I can’t say I have the skills and ability to pull off surviving 21 days in the jungle, so to that end he does get credit.  The dude is just trying to hard to impress and please the females…and that’s not something I’d expect from a 40 year old man with plenty of experience in the world.  He should know better.  Though I can’t help but feel bad for the poor bastard for walking into the clutches of that Praying Mantis, in the end it was his fault.

These shows are all very artificial. In a real survival environment, there isn’t a film crew moments away to save the contestants or to prevent/punish violence.

Realistically speaking, when survival comes into play, a man isn’t going to put up with a woman’s behavior that endangers the group. He will beat the snot out of the woman who acts up, the other women see that and then immediately fall into line. The truth is women are rather hysterical creatures who live in a state of constant fear. Even in the safe West they are always falling into random hysterics and panics. In a true survival situation, the second they see a man that pulls his weight and exerts his power like that, instead of fear they seek safety with him.

You can see it play out even in the West though with women’s love of thugs. They just don’t think the thug will turn his ire to them, and even when he does they actually do not care. They are attracted to that display of power and then put their loyalty in him.

If this sounds messed up, I don’t disagree with you, but this seems to be hard coded.
