a little taste of a great movie , a ” black ” comedy ..if you haven’t seen it you should . anyone care to give a movie review ?
what movies do you know of on par with this one ?This is a great movie, a satire on 1990s avarice and vacuous aspirations of Wall Street types, you know the c~~~s who ended up f~~~ing everybody on the planet up the arse?
It’s told in the first person by Patrick Bateman who as well as being a bell end stock broker is also a serial killer.
It is based on the novel of the same name by Bret Easton Ellis. Normally the novel on which a film is based is recommended over the film, but not in this case, not in my opinion anyway. The book gets bogged down in very long and incredibly gruesome details of Bateman’s crimes to the point where the reader asks themselves if they really should be reading it. IMO this got in the way of much of the satire. The film however pushes the satire over the violence, it would be simply impossible to film some of it. However, this problem is addressed near the end in a very elegant and effective manner. I will say no more.
Christian Bale plays Bateman and does a fine job. It is one of those performances where once you have seen it you could not imagine anyone else playing the part. Although I think Leonardo DiCaprio was considered for the role.
“Long is the way and hard, that out of Hell leads up to light.”

Anonymous1I love the scene when they are competing to see who has the best presentation card, if you saw the movie, you’ll understand:

well, that is the way any sane mgtow feels when confronted by a feminazi.
And no, i dont support violence against people.

When the book came out all those years ago, I read some reviews and they spoke as though that was all that happened: I imagined it as being some splatterpunk thing where the guy just dismembered women in some grabby Saw-esque basement (this was long before Saw – I was ahead of my time in my imaginings). Needless to say I gave it a miss.
Some years back I saw the film and was amazed that it was clever satire. Loved pretty much every minute, especially the business card scene and the carry on about ‘Susidio’.
