Alison Teal, the first person to surf around an active volcano.

This is crazy, this is stupid, this is awesome. And we should give credit where credit is due.

You would expect this stunt from a man, but it was a woman whom did this.

Alison Teal did something very cool and dangerous. And she deserves the credit. She is the first person of either gender to be documented surfing around an active volcano.

Also, of course she had a team. Someone had to hold the camera. Men whom do crazy stunts like this also have teams helping them and planning out the stunts. If one does not plan out a stunt like this, it will may get the person doing the stunt killed. So, that does not disqualify the awesomeness of this stunt by Alison Teal.

You can read the article here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3733022/Hot-stuff-bikini-clad-female-Indiana-Jones-Alison-Teal-person-surf-volcano-using-bright-pink-board-swim-just-inches-free-flowing-lava.html

What surfing? I don’t see any surfing. All I see is a blond attention whore paddling around on a board. Maybe that qualifies as “surfing” if you’re a woman, but to me it doesn’t.

And she is not the first person to paddle around next to an active lava flow. I watched a film in school years ago teaching about Hawaii and volcanoes where they did exactly this. And it was an actual film which should tell you how old it was. I also remember seeing paid excursions advertised to do exactly this about ten years ago as part of a package vacation deal.

So no. She’s not the first. Plenty of other people have already done the same long before her. But since they weren’t blond attention whores in bikinis, nobody cared.

    (Shakes head at sidecar.)

You are not worth it. You not would listen to me even if I tried.

The way in which you worded your post showed that you clearly are just looking to tear people down. Nothing I say will change your mind.

I’m happy to give her props for this, irrespective of gender. But it does look closer to some sort of publicity stunt than an actual achievement. The photographer did a great job though, both the stills and the video are very good.

    Dailymail clickbait

“Volcano” is lava dropping into the water at a snail’s pace.

Continuously making Exaggerated facial expressions in the video for the still shots.

And like sidecar said “what surfing”.

And she isn’t the first ever. The article says first for that particular site. “Kiliwhateverthef~~~” volcano site.

There are women out there who are worthy of admiration. No doubt. Come back with something that actually requires skill and dedication, not an instagram slut paddling around some water with a volcano 2km away in the background.

There’s one of two reasons a man didn’t do this first.

    A. Either no man is nuts enough to do it.

    B. They don’t consider it worth the bother, because of how pointless and insignificant it is.

You are not worth it. You not would listen to me even if I tried.

    Grow the f~~~ up.

You claim this is awesome. I say I don’t see it – and I know she’s not “the first”. Now it’s on you to justify your position. If there’s something about this that actually is impressive or awesome, I’d love to hear it. I have to wonder, though, why they didn’t bother to film it.

But you should know better than to try that childish “you don’t agree with me so I’m not going to tell you because you wouldn’t get it” bulls~~~, especially here on these forums.

Either defend your position or shut the f~~~ up, but either way, knock off the petulance.

How is this impressive? How is this unique? What has she done that anyone else couldn’t have? How is she the first when they’ve been selling package excursions to paddle around the Kilauea outflow, the tamest and most predictable lava flow on the planet, for years now?

To my thinking, this is impressive:

    This really isn’t:

And a surfboard versus kayak makes no difference if you understand thermodynamics.

She did it for an instagram profile pic. Watching her giddy face at doing nothing but dog paddling in the water made me sick
