I have a female acquaintance who constantly complains about her husband and clearly doesn’t want to be with him. I suspect she largely tells me this because she secretly would like to leapfrog over to me (hopefully she pops on a safety harness before taking that leap).

Needless to say, the majority of the time I just ignore it. The other day I got fed up with her whining and was like, “Look, you’re clearly miserable. Why don’t you just get a divorce already?” She says, “I can’t afford the alimony and he’s made hints that I’d have to pay, if I ever left him.” I asked her what she’d have to pay, and she said “I don’t know, but with loans and mortgage I know I couldn’t afford it.”

My initial reaction was to scoff and roll my eyes. I asked her what she makes (well over 6 figures), which I can corroborate. She tells me he makes a mid 5 figures. So, I look up my state’s alimony laws and calculate that she’d likely have to pay him about $3500/mo for 4 years. I google if this ever happens (I had only heard about it back in the day with brittany spears and kevine federline) and apparently it does.

I actually found no joy in this and quickly became furious. They both work and don’t have kids. She pursued a high paying and competitive career. He didn’t, which is fine. But if you don’t make money, then how the f~~~ do you feel entitled to it?

It made me realize that it isn’t just women f~~~ing over men that gets under my skin so much. Alimony is just an all around cancer. It should be abolished. Everyone has equality of opportunity and the days of a one income household are dead. Alimony is just another avenue for entitled c~~~s to steal from those they were supposedly closest and from which the money grubbing state pilfers!

At least the sword cuts both ways. How is this infuriating? Would you have found more joy in him not being entitled?

Alimony sucks, but we already knew that. Find joy in that it can potentially be equitable instead of geared only for one gender.

Why are you talking to a female about this s~~~ anyway? It can’t lead anywhere good.

I’m forced to interact with her in my profession. I agree with you and usually I say very little. But I got fed up and was then surprised when the topic of alimony came up.

I don’t know. MGTOW are commonly accused of being women haters, but I think of us more as injustice haters. And it just so happens that a lot of us have been f~~~ed over by injustices, alimony being a major culprit. It’s f~~~ed when women seek this, and it’s f~~~ed that this guy would seek this.

Alimony almost never cuts the female. Its like 97% men paying women, 3% women paying men.

Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.

A woman I worked with is paying alimony. Her husband lost a business then just quit working. I think he was planning it for years.

While that’s true, if an alimony law is on the books it should be applied equitably. There are a huge number of five-figure c~~~s pulling in alimony from their six-figure ex-husbands, so I’ve no problem with the sexes being reversed.

^That’s a fair point. Maybe if more women get screwed over, there will be a more homogeneous push to get it off the books. But this happens so infrequently, that it’s probably just wishful thinking in my part.

Every time some high earning c~~~ is ordered to pay alimony – usually a Hollyweird type like Britney Spears or Halle Berry – a few c~~~s start making mouth noises about “reforming” the alimony system. The issue then dies very quickly because all the other c~~~s realize how much women benefit from the current system.

This may take decades, but considering the fact that more women are in college and grad school than men, and the fact that average income for younger women is higher than young men, eventually as many women will be paying alimony as men. Wanna bet those old laws fly off the books then.

The problem with the law is it simply calculates amounts based on a mathematical formula with little reference to the underlying facts.

There are situations where a man who is successful marries a woman and she has done little or nothing to contribute to that success. Maybe there are no kids or a nanny and a housekeeper and she doesn’t even take care of the house and home. Then when they divorce just by the fact of marriage and the income differential, she gets maintenance payments.

I’ve also seen situations where a wife takes care of everything, house, home, kids, all the activities of daily living so hubby can concentrate on medical school. Three or four years out when he is starting to make serious money, and the 80 hour weeks are behind him, he dumps her for a hot young nurse. Since she was instrumental in him getting to where he can make that money, perhaps she has some claim on a portion of it for a while.

How can a woman be expected to be happy with a man who insists on treating her as if she were a perfectly normal human being.

    Meh. Who wouldn’t?

It’s like tax law. We can get angry at the wealthy who find every tax loophole they can to pay as little as possible, or we can accept that nearly EVERYONE will play the game to win.

In divorce, this goes double when it hurts someone who hurts us.

It happens rarely that a woman has to pay alimony so I see it as a victory that the guy is reaping the benefits not the girl.

I would say this harks back to the days when women were precious little souls who couldn’t take care of themselves. Like engagement rings they could sell if the man came to his senses and ran away before marriage.

I agree that alimony is a stupid concept in the modern world. Want to keep living the lifestyle your partner provides you with? Then don’t get divorced. Simple.

    IMHO
    Alimony is just like gravy.

Alimony should have been done away with when they started passing “no fault divorce”.

All my life I've had doubts about who I am, where I belonged. Now I'm like the arrow that springs from the bow. No hesitation, no doubts. The path is clear. And what are you? Alive. Everything else is negotiable. Women have rights; men have responsibilities; MGTOW have freedom. Marriage is for chumps. If someone stands in the way of true justice, you simply walk up behind them and stab them in the heart-R'as al Ghul.

    Yes.
Alimony/spousal support should not be a thing.

Quick maffs: $3500X48=168K. boo hoo. give her a box of tissues for her tears.

    “Justice? F~~~ justice.”
Actual justice would be a half century in the other direction, after THE LAYDEEZ….EARN via tough careers, what men now earn via tough careers and men choose ‘f~~~ off’ careers, and 80% of men divorce them.

The puppet master’s tool her was/is/and will be “no fault divorce” = total bushido.

I know where you’re coming from.
The vast majority of us still have base subliminal Blue Pill logic, no matter how Red Pilled we think we are. We don’t really comprehend the cruel financial rape that alimony is,,,until it happens to us,,, or we see it happen to a woman!
It didn’t really hit home for me till I saw this clip from YouTube showing some case by case examples of women being alimony raped.
Watch how enraged some of the women in the audience get,,,,when it happens to women.

MRA’s mistakenly believe that women aren’t aware of gender biassed laws. They’re also mistaken about the fact that if women were informed they’d want the laws changed.
All women know about the cash and prizes of family divorce courts.
Only the second-wives club want the laws changed and that’s only because they resent their current cash cow being milked by another c~~~ other than themselves.
