Where I work we have a bunch of hens who have under-desk heaters to blow hot air on their coochies.  Trust me, whenever I have to sit at these women’s desks to help them with a computer issue my b~~~~ roast in under 5 min.  Now these women should not have those heaters under the desks because it is frankly a fire hazard.  Most areas under women’s desks is a hairball nightmare just waiting to go up in a ball of fire, but the executives caved in due to incessant nagging by their secretaries.

I call BULLS~~~ on this.

My work area is in the server room where my area and the servers in another room all share common airflow.  We keep the server room at a constant 72 deg with low humidity.  I have equipment which monitors this temperature and text’s me when there is a change above a certain temperature.  So I have temperature plots going back 2 years.  Except when we had an AC unit fail the temp has always been the same 72 deg.  Whenever hens come into the server room in the summer they bitch that its freezing.  Then in January when they come down they say wow its nice and warm.   F~~~ing temp never changes, just what they “feel”.   And of course that splains everything.   Female brain feels…

Do they have any business in the server room?, If not IT they shouldn’t be there at all.

Other than that, the hens avoid IT areas like the plague.  Which makes me happy.  Not to mention out of the way of all the office drama.

@chir: I’m with you on those under desk heaters they all have. Chained power strips with 2 units plugged into a 15 amp outlet along with paper and dust. They scare the hell out of me.

My previous (IT) job was at an insurance claim company.  Every summer, all the women working there wore less and less clothing, until the CEO issued a “professional business attire” email.  I remember several women wearing a summer dress and sandals, NO BRA, and SOMETIMES a thong.

yeah… i don’t know what it is with women and having a heater under the desk…

think the funniest one i’ve ran into… was a heater blowing hot air… into a SMALL FORM FACTOR DELL OPTIPLEX 745… in a lab… and the computer was full of hair, dusty, so filthy… and just so happened to be the computer where they stored ALL OF THEIR LAB RESULTS!

Oh yeah.. and get this… while i was working on it… every chick was like, “for some odd reason this computer is always really slow”

Just something you see everywhere; mainly where the management is female, or office is female dominated.

That is perfect/normal room temperature. Hell I am Canadian and I consider that HOT.

It doesn’t matter what the temperature is. Women will always complain. Because that’s what women do. Men just deal with things and get on with work.

One place I was at finally had to put locked plastic boxes over the thermostats to keep the female employees from constantly f~~~ing with them. A sign saying: “Do not f~~~ with the thermostat. This means you.” was insufficient. Keys to the locked thermostats were given to a few select men because occasionally the lever on the side would need to be changed over from heat to cool depending on the weather. The temperature setting itself stayed at an even 72°F/22°C. After the locked boxes were installed the heating / cooling bill immediately dropped by almost half. And there it stayed until one of the female middle managers complained that no women had a key to the thermostats. Well upper management caved and handed out a couple of keys to a few women, and soon enough they were f~~~ing with the thermostat again and the bills went right back to where they were before.

the loony Telegraph Women’s section are at it with this but the dumb bitch gets torn to pieces in the comments. She is a virgin but denies it and she wonders why she is when she writes this sort of tripe – who in their right mind with get with someone like her?

And my experience of this is the same as everyone else – us blokes have to wear shirt and tie with formal shoes, trousers no matter what whereas all the women wear all sorts of skimpy summer gear and then moan they are cold because I don’t want to sit here sweating. I actually point out to them they need to wear more appropriate clothing and if anyone turns off the air conditioning I just switch it back on. Nice and chilly bitches!
