You know, I always thought that lifting and getting buff would automatically get you attention from women if you went out. As in, they’d just approach you.

If that’s true, I think I’d feel even WORSE about flaunting my muscles when women wouldn’t even talk to me before. Suddenly I’d be valuable just for women/one night stands and my SMV would rise.

What are your thoughts on this psychological aspect of lifting and health?

I really don’t know as I have no desire to increase my SMV.

    I work out for me.

Studies show that healthy levels of exercise are good for your health.

I can’t really help with the PUA stuff. Don’t care anymore.

First, MINDustry, congratulations on getting healthy. That will only put you in a better place, even if it is not with women around you.

Now, one has to realize that in this society, women view that men can do no right. That no matter what a man will do, what the man does will always be wrong in some way.

Any form of exercise is good for ones mood. It can even help depression. Lifting and trying to get big so you can score? It can help, but it is a lot of work, and in the long run, staying lighter is better for your health in every way…

Strength training has helped me cultivate a higher level of self respect and confidence that I didn’t have before. Experiencing the benefits of strength and health is empowering as well as seeing how far I’ve come, but there is always The next challenge that keeps me humble and prevents me from developing arrogance. The lifestyle required to achieve greater than average results enforces discipline. Obviously, the pursuit for strength and/or physique can be perverted by manginas, but anything is like that. The successful lifter builds mental strength as well as physical, rather than seeking validation from outside himself, at least as far as I’m concerned.

Lifting and staying strong is a good idea. You’ll be healthier and more durable. If woman are attracted, so be it. Would you want to be weak and flabby to avoid women wanting you? Why let the opinions of tuna control your actions in any way?

    You should train because:

    1. You will live a healthier, longer life.
    2. You’ll have more energy.
    3. You can always have healthy competitions with yourself. Break your plateaus. Become better.
    4. It will help you with everyday things, especially if you work a physical job.
    5. It prevents obesity and all the medical problems that go with it.

    Those are just a few.

When it comes to women, being in shape is only a small part of the equation. I’ve had one night stands and FWB’s becasue of my physical stature….and I’ve had plenty of things I wanted to long term not pan out because of the ‘wrong’ shoes, where I live, what I drive, not wanting to get married again, etc. ‘Hot’ is what they show off tho their friends. Rich is what they brag about to their friends. You could have the body of an adonis and they’ll pass you up for somebody with money. A good example is a phyical therapist I tried to date. Went on and on about my pectorals and that she understands the maintanence to keep them the way I do; blah, blah, blah. We lived in the same town. Good, right? Nope. She liked to drink in Chicago, which is too far (only 25 minutes, but to drink? Dumb) and has horribly over priced drinks. I told her except for once in a awhile, that was f~~~ing stupid. That was the end of that.

Also remember that keeping in shape takes time, effort and money….that you won’t be giving to them. With the exception of gym girls, other women think staying in shape is magic.

You need the right combination of looks, money and status. They’re always going to pick money unless you give them the tingles right away.

If you’re training or doing anything just for the sake of women. You are wasting your God damned time. They appreciate nothing.

    Fuck this planet.

You don’t necessarily live longer just because you life. As a matter of fact you could suffer ailments as you age from lifting. Keeping a good weight and eating a healthy diet is what helps you live longer.

Don’t worry women aren’t attracted to muscles.

I’ve been lifting for 7 years i got pretty ripped and i go about my business just fine.
Women actually start to avoid you because you look intimidating.Even when you’re trying to look soft and all you scare the f~~~ out of them, it’s hilarious.

    Bonus:
no women have ever tried funny s~~~ with me for the last 5 years.

    Bonus #2:
white knights leave you the f~~~ alone too.

    Bonus #3:
people don’t bug your friends either.

And even if by some miracle women where attracted to muscles(male ones at that) you can just tell them to f~~~ off.
Work on your menacing face a bit.Practice saying f~~~ off in the mirror if you have to.You’ll be fine buddy
    follow your dreams!

Overall it’s a win-win-win no matter how you look at it ha!

Then why the hell are you asking for advice?

That’s why you tweak your training habits as you get older…..so you don’t get hurt.

    F~~~ exercise. Right?

    Good day.

Lifting weights can get a guy to a “healthy” weight and help him maintain that weight. No, I don’t respect things like the BMI if that is what you use to determine a “healthy” weight, so just ignore me if you are into that mainstream health advice. Cap285 already addressed the aging issue.

Just lift according to your current state or even mood. The only thing is to pay attention to your bones, muscles are quite resilient so you can lift hard as hell whether it is not crossfit lel. I have lifted pretty heavy for a long time on par with hardcore cardio, stretching and gymnastics. As long as you do not jump on juice, your weight should be a reasonable one and never be a burden even once your natural bounds have been reached.

Your biggest issue is that you actually care about getting female attention. Work out because it’s good for you and you’ll feel more confident. Not to get attention from woman.

Been there and had similar thoughts. Flaunt the muscles and then ignore the women’s responses. You will confuse and literally enrage many of them. Power is more satisfying than an orgasm.

In all reality you have to work out for you, as some of the other guys have mentioned above. I would take a practical look at fitness, if I were you, and see what best ways to adapt your body for your mode of living.
