The SAT’s new ‘adversity score,’ which tracks student’s wealth and privilege, doesn’t solve the test’s racial bias
The College Board recently revealed a new “adversity score” that it plans to use as part of the SAT in order to reflect students’ social and economic background.
The mere fact that the College Board sees a need for an “adversity score” is a tacit admission that the SAT isn’t fair for all students. But will the new score — formally called the Environmental Context Dashboard — truly capture the challenges that students face?
As an education researcher who focuses on matters of equity, I believe the new adversity score will be an inadequate remedy for a test that has been inequitable from the start.
———————–Now this is a massive pile of SJW manure. The SAT/ACT is basic skills test. If your family made you speak clearly and use proper diction then it is not to hard with some basic math and science skills. With to many idiots in college now the last thing needed is to make it easier.

Its liberal bulls~~~ the SAT is racist. Knowing english isn’t racist. Understanding math problems isn’t racist.
Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.
As if women don’t already get enough freebies in life. Sounds like justification to place as many underprivileged and economically challenged women into as many STEM fields as possible. It doesn’t matter if Sally is too dumb for the class, she’ll be a shoe in after her adversity scores kick in. From what I have read on this, no one knows how these scores will be weighted not only among the different categories but in relation to the scores.

Party’s over, shut it down.

Your Math and English questions are oppressing me!
I want to see a ‘voting score’, where if I am voting in, say, an election, they take my total lifetime net taxes paid to that entity (city, State, or Federal government in the US), and multiply it by my vote. And do the same for all other voters. Net taxes = money paid in taxes, less unemployment, government job wages/salary, gov’t retirement (e.g. social security) paid out to date + health benefits from gov’t paid to date, subsidies, grants, etc. This would essentially disenfranchise government employees from the vote, and increase the vote of stakeholders. Zero or negative net taxes paid? Your vote doesn’t count.

I take exception to these types of comments.
Perhaps things are a tad different in the ol’ USofA, however here in Canada, a lot of uninformed and ignorant f~~~sticks equate the armed forces and law enforcement, to “welfare” and to the civilian public service.
1. You DO realize that all military and law enforcement personnel are considered as “government employees” do you not?
2. You do realize that all military and law enforcement personnel are taxed at the same income rates as “everyone” else (if not at a higher percentage federally), and that the “rations and quarters”, uniforms, and all the supposed “perks” are paid for by the individual soldier/sailor/airmen. Do you not?
3. You do realize that all military and law enforcement personnel pay into government and “private” pension plans, and pay the same taxes for municipal/state/provincial/federal on everything that a supposed “private” citizen does, and strangely enough are actually treated worse in many aspects than convicted felons, drug users/dealers, welfare recipients, however I digress.
4. Is your (USA’s) “unemployment” insurance not an “insurance” policy that an individual pays a “premium” into against ones individual unemployment? Ironically here in Canada, there are only 3 ways to seperate from the Armed Forces.
a. Quit = not entitled to “UI”
b. Fired = not entitled to “UI”
c. Retire = not entitled to “UI” unless you are medically discharged due to service related injuries. Or you defer you annuity for a year. You also get the added benefit of not receiving your first “pension” cheque for 3-9 months after release. This would essentially disenfranchise government employees from the vote, and increase the vote of stakeholders. Zero or negative net taxes paid?
5. Stakeholders? WTF do you mean “stakeholders”? I personally know more civilians who have put zero effort into bettering themselves, nor paying into the system that supports them, yet demand support from cradle to grave, while at the same time abusing the system and sucking it dry. While bitching about how much they magically do with their imaginations. I also know a lot more civilians that do “unethical” shyte that borders on being criminal.
Nothing says stakeholder like the person holding the shield while you go about your day unconcerned about those that wish you harm. Then folks wonder why people like me DGAF about you and yours. When I was young, my stepfather had the same bulls~~~ idea that “his” taxes paid my wages. One day while I was home visiting on “medical leave” he saw my damn pay guide and saw what I was paid, and paid in deductions (taxes etc) and found out all his misconceptions were extremely wrong.
There was a time in my life when I gave a fuck. Now you have to pay ME for it
