When left to their own devices and opinions, they either don’t give a s~~~ or they like that ScarJo was casted as Kusanagi. Their answers only change when they start getting spoon-fed liberal PC bulls~~~, but they all come back around to rational ideas. Even the women.

The world’s movie makers all have a long history of doing this, that is casting a person of one ethnicity in a role where another ethnicity is called for. The movie will succeed or fail based on its box office take. How politically correct it is, or is not, will make no difference to the decision makers.

Full disclosure: I might just rent this one when the DVD arrives at RedBox. It looks cool.

Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?

Some of the interviewees do mention that putting butts in seats is important for the bottom line. I like the casting choice. Johansson has proven that she can nail action roles like a carpenter, and there isn’t anything at all in the entire GITS franchise that specifies or even implies that Kusanagi’s shell is supposed to look ethnically asian. The only eye colors the character has ever had are blue and red, and in the original movie she’s drawn to have a long, thin nose. Plus, there’s just something deep down inside me that makes me want to financially support things that feminist libwits throw tantrums about. I know it isn’t exactly rational, but I’ve yet to prove myself wrong.

It is my belief that people, both male and female alike, cannot help but complain about things. I believe that this is exceptionally true with the predominantly English speaking countries, and that most other countries simply don’t care and just jump on the metaphorical bandwagon because they want to follow things that “we” think are trendy.

A perfect example of this (in my opinion at least) was the casting of Michael Clarke Duncan as “John Coffey” in The Green Mile. People (who actually read the books first) were actually complaining that the late Mr. Duncan “wasn’t dumb enough” for the role. Really? I mean, really? “He wasn’t dumb enough”? That’s the logic? Yet, looking at the other main characters (i.e. Tom Hanks) it’s abundantly clear that they were selected from the A-list pool of acting talent. No matter how hard I look, even now, I just don’t see any gigantic, black (or any other ethnicity for that matter) celebrity who suffers from crippling levels of actual retardation. Mr. Duncan was clearly cast for his talent to fill the roll, as well as sharing enough physical characteristics with the actual character. Not for his intelligence, or in this case lack-thereof.

We, as English speaking people, and especially us Americans, just aren’t happy unless we’ve got something to bitch about. It’s really as simple as that.

Yea, Hollywood’s been doing this type of stuff for quite some time. This isn’t really something new and controversial.

My issue is actually not with the casting. That’ll probably be the least of the film’s problems when it comes out. I don’t have faith in Hollywood in general when it comes to good anime adaptations. I look at the directors and producers and writers of the film and I don’t feel that confident about them. Yet another thing for Hollywood to milk as much money as they can without making the film entertaining.

This film might just do as well as the American Oldboy. Or Kite. or…Dragon Ball Evolution

The same thing goes with non-anime, like Fant4stic and Gods of Egypt.

And in the end, it’s not even about race. It’s about popularity. Scarlett Johansson is a bankable actress. She’s Black Widow in the Marvel movies. She’s Lucy in Lucy. She’s a sexy motherf~~~er. So they use her. SJWs need to understand how Hollywood works. Someone like Rinko Kikuchi isn’t bankable. What has she done, Pacific Rim? She may be a good actress, but I didn’t see that movie to see her necessarily. I wanted to see the mechas.

Attack on Titan is supposed to have white (German inspired) characters in it with the exception of Mikasa and her mother. The live action movies were completely Japanese cast, unless I’m mistaken.

The American Death Note movie is going to be white cast based on what I’ve heard so far. I haven’t seen any complaints yet.

I know James Cameron wants to make a Battle Angel Alita movie since that’s the manga that inspired him to make Terminator 2. If he ever finishes his 4 Avatar films, I won’t be surprised if he casts non-Asian people for the movie.

Overall I don’t see what the big deal is. Acting skill should be the only factor when casting, not a person’s place of origin.

I hear ya, bruh. Rinko’s been in some good s~~~ but they want to add fans and make money, not kowtow to stupid SJWs who wouldn’t go see it even if they got their way. And yeah, I can’t think of one anime to hollywood adaptation that hasn’t sucked, or anime to live action for that matter. Dragonball Evolution was a dumpster fire, the live action Death Note tv series was just plain unwatchable. I have a good feeling about this one though. I think Rinko was busy with a Star Wars contract anyway, so that’s a non-starter for any casting agent.
I just looked at the imdb cast list for Ghost in the Shell again, and saw that Takeshi Kitano is going to play Aramaki and Michael Pitt as Kuze. F~~~ing brilliant.

You were right about the Attack on Titan movie. But please, for the love of all things that are good and right in the world, don’t watch it. Seriously. Just ignore its existence entirely.
Acting skill should be a big deciding factor, but so should the ability to sell tickets.

Their reaction is not much of a surprise considering that most anime characters aren’t even remotely Asian.

The Young Turks did a vid supporting the SJW view. Naturally, the same folks were whining about Idris Elba not being cast as James Bond.
