So a bit back I went over to my friends house to hang out, and he lived with a couple roommates at the time. When we got to his house, we were the only ones there.

We played Resident Evil for a bit, and then his female roommate comes home. Because I was there before her, and my friend had picked me up, there was no way she knew I was in the house. Logically, she’d only think my friend was there.

We decide to go on and head out to do something else, so I decide to go to the bathroom right quick. Door is open about an inch or so, light is off, so I assume it’s empty.

However, I was quite wrong. Due to the fact I move rather quickly, I had already turned on the light and was a couple steps into the bathroom before I saw her standing at the sink. Of course, my reaction was to say “Oh excuse me, I didn’t realize this was currently in use”.

The weird thing is, she was not fazed by my presence at ALL. Her expression didn’t change, and she didn’t look away from the mirror to even have a quick glance at the stranger she’s never met before entering a restroom she’s currently using. It’s as if she expected me to come in, as if I’m SUPPOSED to be in the bathroom with her, or as if this happens all the time. In fact, she applied the finishing touches to her make-up, and then said, “Hello, my name is “Jenn”, as she offers to shake my hand. I introduce myself and inform her that I am Bob’s friend, hence why I’m here. She chats for a bit as she finishes, cleans up her lipstick, and is done, at which point she goes to the living room and lounges on the couch.

After this I thought to myself, “This woman must have similar prior experiences. She didn’t know me, I didn’t know her, she didn’t even know I was in the house, and yet, she behaves like she’s seen me every day, and is EXTREMELY used to my presence.”

I ask Bob about her background, just to confirm a hunch I had regarding this, and as I suspected, she was more or less a prostitute, bringing in a different guy (sometimes several) to the house every other day.

Everything made sense after he told me this, but what do you guys think about it?

I just noted it as interesting, being that with pretty much every other woman I’ve met, you even sneeze on the door while they are in the bathroom and they freak out.

She staged the meeting. Who knows how long she waited in the bathroom hoping you would use it. The entire interaction in the bathroom was because she orchestrated it. Why else did she leave the door ajar and have the light off?

I’m with Art: she was sizing you up and got exactly the information out of you that she wanted.

I’m not saying you made a mistake or should have done something differently, there was no right or wrong way to respond to that, she just wanted to see what the response was and she got what she needed for future interactions.

I’ve dated women like that and, in fairness, I have more respect for actual prostitutes because they don’t get all huffy if you decide to just slip them a $50 instead of paying for dinner.

By the way, that carefully gauged reaction is checkbox number one for ASPD (though I’m aware most women today exhibit signs of ASPD). She’s interested in you; not sexually, of course, but the way an arachnid is interested and tests her web for new movement. Do not let yourself be alone anywhere in the apartment with her from here on.

I could understand the theory that she staged the meeting if she knew I was there. But she did not.

I automatically knew she was observing what I would do, hence why she produced no reaction- to see mine. So I just reacted normally. Now as to why- God knows. As you guys already said, very likely not planning anything good. But I’ll probably never see her again, due to having moved since, so she is not a future concern.

All the more terrifying if she had no idea you were there. That’d upgrade the reaction to a checkbox for psychopath. Glad she won’t be a future concern, brother, though I feel for your friend; I pray nothing comes of that to harm him.

Are you sure she couldn’t have known someone was there? Women are a lot smarter than you think on this, and have very heightened senses, especially of hearing.

Every workplace I’ve been in, no matter how quiet I speak and no matter how many other people are speaking at the same time, I’ve had women all the way across noisy rooms be able to pick out and repeat every single thing I’ve said. All while having conversations of their own with multiple people. They can also do this at parties and other events. It is an uncanny ability, that I suspect has some sort of evolutionary function.

There is a strong possibility she heard your voice or heard you playing. She then orchestrated the entire interaction, as others have pointed out.

Women are in general stupid in some ways but then frighteningly adept in others. They are awful at intellectual fields. They stink at science, engineering, critical thinking, logic, really every academic and practical pursuit one can think of.

But when it comes to social interactions, deception, emotional manipulation, social customs and the like, they are able to function at a very high level with ease. They do it at a subconscious level, which makes it even more difficult if as a man you try to look for tells or cues and try to out think them.

Do not try to compete with them or read into them on these things. It’s a losing game. It will take a tremendous amount of experience and practice before you’ll really be able to do so, and even then it will be draining for you mentally, and for no real benefit. Let them do their nonsense while you ignore them and don’t waste your mental acuity on it.

Oh yeah no while I got away fine, my friend there got f~~~ed. But that is a story for tomorrow when I have access to my keyboard.

As you said, nope, I don’t waste my time trying to get in her head etc, I just continue with the goal I have in mind, and let nothing divert me from it. Sure, she could try and manipulate that, but it’s a waste of her time.

Why in the hell would any sane guy let a prostitute live with him?

Because at first they were all “boyfriends” she was constantly breaking up with, then she ramped it up. She was a heavy drug user as well. But that will all be explained tomorrow.

I’m starting to suspect that myself. A very disturbing realization.

Since your friend let you in, there was no one at home so he didn’t say anything to the other roomates. Probably this has happened more than once, and probably the other roomates do the same with him, not telling him who is going in and who is going out. Since they live like that, they are fine with finding strangers around the house because they get used to it.

Honestly, finding strangers around the house is not fine for me, but when you live with roomates, it is not granted to see signs of education and civilization.
I was lucky enough, because in the past many roomates have warned me when someone was coming to our place, but I had s~~~ty roomates that didn’t give a f~~~ aswell.

She did know you were ether. They do this sort of thing all the time. They have to be centre of attention all the time.
