A thought: Suing the Food Companies for injecting sugar in almost all foods?

It is no secret that the food companies inject almost all their food products with sugar. You cannot even find bread that does not have some sugar added into it.

This is why there are so many people whom are fat.

It is next to impossible to find foods that do not have sugar injected into food. So, this is not a matter of choice. This is no real choice.

Adding to this government has wrecked the medical industries.

Do you believe food companies should be sued for causing this health epidemic?

Sugar is a drug. We did not evolve to eat that much sugar.

One of the things that came out of the great tobacco lawsuits was that the producers had deliberately been breeding tobacco plants to be more addictive.

It’s the same with sugar. Salt, too.

The put more and more in so that rival products seem dull by comparison.

    Effectively, people become hooked.

So, your defense of the food companies is ‘doing something will make things worse’?

Do you understand how you sound?

For God’s sake, are you men ? or little boys ?
Eat things that grow, not stuff from food companies.
Stuff that Grows like – meat, vegetables, fruit, fish, eggs.

Sugar cannot be injected into those. It is not difficult. Stop blaming others.

I don’t care about what “food companies” are doing to: society, to weak men, to women. I have gone my own way. I look after myself and eat proper food, not food from “food companies”.

Good point. Even the most basic things like Ketchup contain sugar. It’s in everything, and in high gram doses. The problem is, your body uses sugar for energy. Your body when it gets excess sugar says to myself “I don’t need this now, so I better store it for later”. So it stores that sugar, but sugar is the #1 thing that when stored/processed ends up as fat.

I struggled with depression and addiction for many years. Coincidentally my diet was high in sugar & processed foods and I was not in good shape.

I have never been prescribed nor taken anti-depressants but a year ago I started taking cold showers and gave up all added sugar & processed foods in my diet. That is my anti-depressant and it feels great.

Sounds like suing Hershey Corp. because eating too much of their chocolate made me fat.

The reason there are so many fat people is because they live a sedentary lifestyle and are too lazy to work out and eat right. A small percentage are naturally fat;everything above that is due to choice. Our genetics haven’t changed in the last 50years, but we certainly have more fat people. The companies will produce what makes the most money. That is what consumers demand. Only a small part of a typical grocery store is devoted to unprocessed food for this reason.

If I want healthy food, I can purchase fruits, vegetables, and unprocessed meat at almost any grocery store. However, most consumers leaving the grocery store have carts chock full of processed chit.

My advice is to learn to cook, buy eggs, unprocessed Brown rice, potatoes, fresh meat, and other natural foods.

I’ve got a different view on the subject. Sugar, and salt are food preservatives.

Suing food companies for preserving food is a slippery slope. Adequate nutrition knowledge and discipline, should curb adverse health affects.

I fail entirely to see how pointing out the food companies put excessive quantites of sugar and salt into their products in order to obtain commercial advantage amounts to defending them.

This is fattening the people and causing other health problems.

The government and media bitch about people being fat, but they will not dare say what the cause is.

And because almost all the food companies do it there are no real options for people.

For example, take a look at how much sugar is in a slice of bread you buy by the loaf at the store. This adds up.

This is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

No. It would only be a problem if the food companies did not mean regulations for reporting what is in their product.

People should be responsible for what they put in their bodies. I get that it gets very difficult to do that given the food choices available, but can you blame companies for only selling what sells?

And how exactly would be the criteria for which food companies get sued? Say that they should have at least one product available that is good for you. Are you going to sue Ben & Jerrry’s ice cream? Maybe Budweiser? Willy Wonka? Do you sue the grocery stores?

Say you don’t sue, but instead of the government start regulating what food can be sold at stores and restaurants, and regulating people’s diet. Do you really want that? Didn’t New York try to do this by limiting how many ounces of soda you can buy at one time? How well did that work?

The only think I would being willing to sue is the government, for proving inaccurate information on health, or spending more effort on promoting better habits instead of pushing drugs.

    Ok. Then do it.

    You are missing the point.

They are almost all putting sugar in their products. There is no real selection.

This is like Henry Ford and his model T car. You can have your model T in any color you want as long as it is black.
