Someone way back brought up a solution wherein you innocently take a sheet of loose leaf and start listing all of their ‘real man’ criteria along the left line of the sheet.

……..Then when they’re done, fold it in two, pen against the new column and ask,
“OK, what are the requirements to be, a ‘real woman’?”

If met with silence, ask a question corresponding to each of her ideas, “OK if he must be a hard worker, should she? etc.
