I seen a movie over the weekend that I thought would be interesting to ppl here.
The name of the movie is : SOLITARY MAN 2008 stars, Michael Douglas,Danny De Vito, Susan Sarandon, Mary-Louise Parker.
Michael Douglas as “Ben Kalman,” a successful self-made man, who upon notice of a serious medical issue alters his life. (I would say he went MGTOW).
I write about this movie because it is very thought provoking. His decisions towards marriage, business, Family, Women, are interesting to a NGTOW. I thought the movie raised just as many questions as it did answers, hence the purpose of this thread.
I would like to know WHICH WAY HE WENT,at the end of the movie. Seems he had to make a “Quality decision” concerning his life at the end of the movie……………
Which way do you think he went ??
    Why ??

Please respond only if you have seen the movie, as your replies would not be relevant to the attitude of the character in the movie.

If you had not seen this movie, and claim the title MGTOW, I highly recommend seeing this movie. (I have seen it 4 times since this weekend, and plan on buying the DVD).

Your thoughts on the character of BEN KALMAN, as played by Micheal Douglas ??

Decided to rent this film from the library yesterday. I was wondering why you would watch a film like that four times which caused me to want to rent it.

It’s a very interesting film. In my opinion, Ben is a piece of s~~~, obviously, BUT girls used to go crazy for him when he was in his prime, so I can see why It is such a nasty habit of his.

His wife is f~~~ing hot. There’s no denying that. Yet, he still cheated on her by sleeping with other women. There’s something deeper than this.

I know what it is… he’s used to sleep around with multiple women and was NEVER ready to settle down. He had he money and the looks.

This same actor played the same “player” role in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past movie. It’s like he’s actually like that in real life.

About the ending… I think he stood up and would do the exact same thing, sleep around with more women. That would make it funnier, for some reason!

What truly stood out to me is how the women talked to him. Since he was an asshole by sleeping around frivolously, there was something disturbing about the females’ response to him. It’s almost as if women CAUSED him to want to sleep around so much.

Firstly, he slept with his girlfriend’s daughter. He didn’t force her to sleep with him, she’s the one who instigated it. The daughter was, like, 20 years younger than him. Get this, she just wanted to f~~~ him because she found out her mother could make him cum better. The daughter wanted to compete with her mother by being more slutty.

Secondly, he f~~~ed with a blonde bitch he knew from the bar. That blonde was being almighty-high on the horse for defending her husband for being cheated on, even though she was obviously there at the bar to want to cheat on her husband with a complete stranger. I see, if he was younger, the blonde bitch would’ve laughed with him.

Thirdly, he was GOING to sleep with his new friend’s brunette girlfriend, but the girlfriend didn’t want him because she was defending her boyfriend that he was a much better man than him. Funny thing is he said something that made sense. “Not anymore”. He was saying that if he was younger, the brunette would’ve totally f~~~ed his brains out and would’ve cheated on her current boyfriend. She was only being “loyal” because he was a bit too old.

Lastly, his wife was sitting on the bench with Ben. His wife asked him something like “was your first affair worth it?” Ben’s response was that he enjoyed every second of it. The wife’s response was kinda creepy, she didn’t seem disappointed, it’s almost as if she fully expected him to be the cheater simply because he’s a man. Now the wife wanted him to come back into her life. I think she was just being as competitive as the daughter of Ben’s girlfriend in the beginning of the movie. Also, I’m willing to bet his wife had already cheated on him way before he cheated on her.

    Hey,
Thanks soo much for the reply. I seen this movie from so many angles which is why I watched it so many times. Ben (the main character),is totally red-pill. He also does a really good job screwing his life up over an unknown medical issue. Truth is: I know a lot of men who would act just like that. Why did he act like that ?? He explains why to his ex on the bench in the last scene.
One thing is sure: He went his own way…..

True, he is a piece of s~~~ from a social aspect,BUT he is out for HIMSELF, something a lot of females do as well,…(to care about nothing but themselves)

His wife is f~~~ing hot. There’s no denying that. Yet, he still cheated on her by sleeping with other women. There’s something deeper than this. His wife,(played by Susan Sarandon), is a gem

I know what it is… he’s used to sleep around with multiple women and was NEVER ready to settle down. He had he money and the looks.Yes! Vanity transcends both genders

This same actor played the same “player” role in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past movie. It’s like he’s actually like that in real life.

About the ending… I think he stood up and would do the exact same thing, sleep around with more women. That would make it funnier, for some reason!I had that feeling too, making him total red-pill. Still I am not sure

What truly stood out to me is how the women talked to him. Since he was an asshole by sleeping around frivolously, there was something disturbing about the females’ response to him. It’s almost as if women CAUSED him to want to sleep around so much.No doubt he was a ladiesman,… he just turned into a womanizer after his doctor visit(scene 1)

Firstly, he slept with his girlfriend’s daughter. He didn’t force her to sleep with him, she’s the one who instigated it. The daughter was, like, 20 years younger than him. Get this, she just wanted to f~~~ him because she found out her mother could make him cum better. The daughter wanted to compete with her mother by being more slutty.IMO: TRUE and AWALT. Sleeping with her was his big mistake! He should have known this being a businessman that pussy NEVER trumps MONEY !! Perhaps the directors of the film were making a statement about him by showing this weakness.

Secondly, he f~~~ed with a blonde bitch he knew from the bar. That blonde was being almighty-high on the horse for defending her husband for being cheated on, even though she was obviously there at the bar to want to cheat on her husband with a complete stranger. I see, if he was younger, the blonde bitch would’ve laughed with him.A good example of the 2-sided thinking of a woman

She was only being “loyal” because he was a bit too old.He was drunk when they had this conversation. ALSO note that he got “shot down” by his prior pick-up attempt of the girl that he recognized from the Deli.

Lastly, his wife was sitting on the bench with Ben. His wife asked him something like “was your first affair worth it?” Ben’s response was that he enjoyed every second of it. Also, I’m willing to bet his wife had already cheated on him way before he cheated on her.I think Ben’s wife still has compassion for him. Perhaps she sees his weaknesses through her own fault(s). That is open in the movie(never discussed)
