So like many of my generation, I grew up under a single mother. Father took off when I was one, married other women and moved halfway across the country. It was difficult filling that hole growing up, as well as seeing my mother struggle to make ends meet. To get to the bottom of things, while I was in the military, I got a male lion tattoo on my ribs. This symbolized a painful reminder for me to be family man, to defend my kin and to be there for my children at all costs. A small oath to myself to not become my father, since my father did as his father did to him. Having come to the realization of mgtow, a wife and family is no longer a part of my future vision. Therefore, I’m trying to find new meaning in this old tattoo.

So far I have come up with it representing the Nimean lion being under my arm, as in myself choking/taming my own egoic, emotional and undisciplined beast (mind). The tattoo doesn’t seem to me to be at all representational of the actual African Lions because a lone male lion is weak. They tend to need a female pride to survive and show their greatness. Without one, they’ll try to join up with other males just to get by until their small male group takes on another male lion. Once they are victorious, they’ll be the defender and “ruler” of their female lions up until another male knocks them off their pedestal.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for a new meaning?
Also, does anyone have any tattoos that they also had to find new meanings for as they grew and changed?

    to defend my kin

You got a million brothers out there that can need some guidance and protection.

to be there for my children at all costs

Sadly, only children a man will support without marriage is another man’s or those forced by state to pay for single mothers

I would say the meaning can be simple- the lion is freedom.

Its there because you decided for it to be there. Moving forward what you do will be decided by you and you only.

I got a tattoo shortly after my split with X. Bird flying from an open cage – if you love something set it free. Didn’t take me very long to realise I was the bird. Never going back in the cage.

As I come close to 2 years separated (can apply for divorce) and financial settlement I am considering my next one. Will update when done. I am considering this vary carefully. I don’t have anything against tattoos but to me they are something very special and personal. I quite like the style of the Russian criminal tattoo. Sometimes obscure but significant meanings. They tell the story of the wearer.

As for the Lion, my MGTOW take on it would be top of the food chain. You hunt whatever you want when you want it. Nobody is going to make a meal out of you.

    Never fuck a crazy chick.
