I just went to the grocery store.

When I came out a homless guy approached me.

He said he was a Viet Nam Veteran.

I asked him about his experience.

He said he had been shot 3 times and stabbed twice.

He didnt ask for anything. All I had left on me was 5.00 so I gave it to himm with an opology for it being so little.

He shook my hand and said thank you.
    I could feel his gratitude.

I said can I say something to you?

I put my arm around him, and said.

Welcome home Brother welcome home. Some day mabey youll get the f~~~ing parade you deserve.

    He turned and walked away.

When he got to the other side of the parking lot he turned and held up his first and pinky fingers. Sighn langauge for love.

Hey walked away cause he didnt want me to see him crying.

I dont care who saw the tears running down my face.

It is not unmanly to cry.Its not unmanly to have feelings.

Save your generousity for your fellow Man.

For the first time in quit a while I fell like my life has purpose.

God Bless you Viet Nam Veterans.

I work with vets on a daily basis. I see the gratitude everyday. At 50 I know it will be my last job. The price they have paid is beyond what one might fathom. God bless them.

Here’s a tearful vet that made national news marching alone at a Victory day parade.

God Bless You Brother and that Veteren. When I was young I befriended some Vietnam Veteren Pilots on Sanford Airport in Florida who were helicopter pilots. One flew A forest service Huey. The others had a repair business on the field. All kinds of birds flying in. I was a shy kid who loved all things that flew and they took me in and shared their stories about their flying careers. Back then I could start a Huey almost from memory from reading the checklist and sitting in them when they started them. The sound of those igniters firing the whine and smell of jet a and those big rotors turning. Those men left a positive impression me I can’t thank them enough for those great memories.

All veterans are special to me, without them we would have nothing. The ones from Southeast Asia are really dear to me. God Bless them all.

Great post OS. My brother told me that his first mission in Nam was to recover the body of the guy he was replacing during a firefight. I can’t even imagine. God bless all our veterans.

    Fantastic post.

Had an identical tearfelt experience with a homeless vet(? he had a flag) on the sidewalk. I passed him. He didn’t even ask me for anything. A turned around and walked back to him and emptied my pocket… some $8 and change.

We had a moment of silence where no words were needed – or even possible. His reaction made my heart grow to the size of 10 grinches – plus two. It was so worth it.

How do you properly thank a soldier?
    I don’t know how.

I’m not entirely sure there is a way to properly thank a soldier, at least not one that doesn’t require you to lay down your life to protect them in some way…

They don’t even ask for that much, but we as a society don’t give a crap.

I was honoured to meet your brother Jotech. Family disagreements aside, He must have seen some s~~~ and survived. I would have liked to speak with him more, but I was terrified of totaling the car driving blind in the dark.

And the story of the Android Robot Human Radio is creepy as f~~~.

Thanks for taking me to your home.

Nah, you have a heart . . . it’s just two sizes too small.
