A chick nearly ruined my 15hr plane trip

Last week I was flying with my daughter back to US from Lithuania through Oslo and Reykjavik with two relatively short layovers.
So we’re about to board the first plane and because Vilnius airport is pretty small, we were walking to the plane on the tarmac. While we were waiting to go up the plane on the stair, I was watching this little blond chick airport worker trying to hook a tow bar to the front landing gear. The tow bar was pretty massive and she sat on it like a see-saw trying to align it with the chassis connection point. She was struggling and it didn’t look like she knew what the hell she was doing. I was like – f~~~, I hope everything works out.
So we get seated, got taxied backward towards the strip, started engines and were rolling on our way, when suddenly took a turn away from the strip. Captain started speaking and explained that he was told there was a problem with the front landing gear, and we need a mechanic to inspect the damage.
I was like – great, now we’re gonna miss the two other flights because of this dumb blonde who damaged the plane with the tow bar. Mechanics arrived pretty quickly with the stair and got the captain out to inspect the damage. Then he got back in the c~~~pit and told us that someone saw a piece of metal fall off the plane while it was being taxied, and because they didn’t know where it came from – they had to inspect the landing gear to make sure it didn’t fall off the plane. Turned out that was a piece of a tow bar that that chick probably broke by attaching it incorrectly to the landing gear, so the plane got cleared for the take-off.
In the end we only lost 30 min, which pilots almost made up by climbing high and flying really fast, which was pretty cool.
So everything ended good, but it could had been a lot worse.

Reminds me of a time my buddy and I were going up north fishing when we were young. He picks me up at my place towing his boat as usual. We started heading to the lake. About an hour into the drive I look out the passenger window and noticed the trailer carrying the boat pass us up and ended up resting in the ditch. My buddy didn’t know it until I pointed it out. Obviously he didn’t properly secure it. No damage done. We stopped and hooked it up properly and away we went. It’s funny years later. You never know how lucky you are until you’re older.

I was a pilot. Don’t get me started about female pilots. The very few who make into commercial aviation are co-pilots for a reason and they usually quit after a few years…if that long. The ultra rare who make it as captain are basically men. They’re not “womanly” or feminine at all.

I worked on the ramp in Newark NJ pushing and pulling jets. We had a lot of female coworkers. We tended to only ask them to be wing walkers and do baggage runs. We never really trusted them with the heavy equipment… ESPECIALLY after one female drove a can loader up to Continental’s (before UNITED bought them) FIRST BRAND NEW 777 Jet and punched a hole in it. BRAND EFFING NEW 350 MILLION DOLLAR PLANE IMMEDIATELY GROUNDED… Because she insisted she knew how to drive a can loader….

Women and heavy machinery… Nope. Like Meth. Don’t do it!!!

Same goes with female drivers. There is a right angle turn where I live which rises in elavation quite a bit. All women just cut the turn like it is a racing game. I had to slam the brakes during two incidents, both involving women coming from the other side.
