This pic is just disgraceful, and contemptuous. Sacrifice, hard work, vision – these mean nothing to the ladies of today.
As usual taking credit for stuff they didn’t do.
These are iron workers. They had to toss red hot rivets with tongs, weld, lift heavy beams and columns, work aloft, and face many hazards. Hell, they didn’t even wear hard hats 85 years ago.
I just don’t get the right photo. The women had nothing to do with building a skyscraper. They aren’t even dressed posed in heavy clothing to protect them from burns, impact, sparks, and abrasion like real iron workers. The fake photo is an insult to the men and also to the few women ironworkers.
The reality is only about 1% of iron workers are women. I respect them when I see them, just like a man. But they are in the extreme minority. Also, media portrayals of them are not realistic. Tradeswomen don’t typically look like the star of Flashdance; most are burly. Most women have no interest in working in trades such as welding, pipe fitting, iron work, etc.
