Personally, I don’t buy oil as being the primary reason for the recent Mideast wars or the prior ones. Hear me out. The US DIDN’T go to war with Saudi Arabia when King Abdul Aziz demanded 50% of the profits from Saudi Aramco. Instead, the ‘Golden Gimmick’ was implemented under Truman, wherein the US taxes from Aramco (a US company in those days, or more accurately a consortium of big Oil) went to Saudi Arabia to pay the 50%; so the taxpayers lost out. A similar deal was struck with Venezuela. OPEC was formed shortly thereafter. The US did NOT invade these countries and secure the oil concessions for large companies. Nor did the US take over the oilfields of Iraq and benefit from their production.

In times of old, armies would sack cities, stealing the gold, art, etc. War was profitable for the winners.

If the US actually HAD gone to war for oil, the US would run the Iraqi oil fields, and we would not have billions of dollars of war debt. I’m against the Gulf Wars, but don’t buy into them being oil wars.

If anything, our so-called ‘oil wars’ RAISED the price of oil because it interrupted production. Oil is a commodity. Dictators will sell it onto the world market at the highest price they can get, same as Democrats will (as in, Democracies). The Russians under Communism supplied essential natural gas for home heating to Western Europe and they still do under Putin’s regime, for instance.

15 years have past and I’m still confused about the event.

All investigative reporting leads to nowhere.

"I saw that there comes a point, in the defeat of any man of virtue, when his own consent is needed for evil to win-and that no manner of injury done to him by others can succeed if he chooses to withhold his consent. I saw that I could put an end to your outrages by pronouncing a single word in my mind. I pronounced it. The word was ‘No.’" (Atlas Shrugged)
