Almost exactly 50 years ago, it still holds true to today and plays to packed houses across the globe. We don’t laugh because it’s funny. We laugh because it’s true. Shakespeare once suggested there are basically 7 stories/plots in the world, and all stories are a version of one of those. My Fair Lady is Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew in a different wrapping. So it would seem this theme has been around for much longer than just 5 decades.
