I am sure her calculating the time lost on “her career” is the exact same calculation that happens with all of those girls on backpages asking for “donations” for their time. Yep, they’d probably be writing code or working on astrophysics problems if they weren’t escorting, I’m sure.

Seriously, this sort of hit home for me since I have contemplated my career, which isn’t that great, and have realized that it’s not really worth it for me to bust my ass outside the home making more money. I mean, my kids are comfortable enough as is, my in-laws help out, and my wife could probably pull more anyway if she weren’t at home raising the kids most of the time (but I am here a lot too and do a lot of stuff around the house). It’s a zero-sum game. I wonder how many men are making this calculation: if I work a bunch and make bank, my wife will somehow find out that I am “neglecting her” and “she’s not happy” (surprise surprise!) so take the opportunity to just take half (or more) and cash out. What’s my incentive to work harder at this point? I’ll just hang with my kids and wait for my wife to get her career going again, and then I’ll see.

This feels a little like, “divorce insurance”, but it’s probably not going to work.

I pay for everything, joint bank account, cars, fuel, bills, meals, birthday gifts for her, her friends, her family… everything. She doesn’t want a career even though her daddy paid for her degree level education.

The extra monthly bonus as HE suggests is for my wife to spend on extra “treats” however she decides. This is in addition to the treats she already uses our joint bank account to buy for herself?!?

What gets me most about this staggering stupidity is that it is being suggested to me by another man??!
