She sends me an email today….This is the 50th or 60th time she has asked me this btw, “There is still an opening for the head of the IT department, and they keep asking me if I know anyone, I told them all about you, and they want to interview you right away, please take this job Travis, it would help us get back on track together, I know you keep telling me your in pain all day, every day, and can hardly walk anymore, but when you take this job, the insurance will kick in and we can get you in to a better doctor, and maybe some better medication, what do you say, will you try????”

I don’t even know what to say to this woman anymore, I am at a loss for word’s…

An ex of mine emailed me last summer.
“So what are your plans? Are you going to be home any time soon?”.
TRANSLATION: “I really want to see you”.

I replied: “Well actually THIS is home. But I did just return back (from her city) 2 weeks ago, and did some fishing”.
TRANSLATION: “No”.

They look like harmless words but both of us know what the other was saying. I know this because she didn’t reply to my telling her I was just there (I wasn’t). But it was a great way to say “even if I did come *home* I wouldn’t be the least bit interested in seeing you anyway”. If she is going to be indirect, slippery,and take a backhanded approach, I will too.

If you can afford not to take the job don’t. Using it to get “us” back together? First she would have to indicate that the possibility exists.

You’re the type to have a sense of humor about it, but if it were me and I broke off the engagement:
“Is that a proposal? Where’s the ring. It had better be nice. Minimum 5 carats and UP”.
….and then add..
“An employer would make it REALLY attractive…. by offering a salary, vacation time and benefits.”

If you do need (and want) the job – AND ONLY THE JOB – append it with: “Unless you offer those perks personally, the only person I will discuss a professional position with is a hiring manager directly and nobody else”.

I am 41 in  October, and I have never been on a more true or perfect path than the one I walk now. I hold my head high, and breathe sighs of relief the yelling, screaming, shaming, and all her s~~~ is done. It has never been so quiet here, and I have never been more at peace.

I remember that day (and realization) myself. No bulls~~~. It just came over me and I said nearly identical words.

I cannot really afford not to take it, but my mom has really stepped up and helped me out a lot, making it so I don’t need anything else at all, so I am not at all even considering it…

Well that’s great news. I was concerned she was trying to f~~~ you into a corner and you had no out. So man, if you don’t need it, don’t take it. Having her around AT WORK where she can get you hired (and get you fired!!) with a few well chosen words???….It wouldn’t sit well at all. So I’m glad you don’t even need think about it.

Now to get back to your original question. How to reply……. or if to even bother.
How satisfying would it be to send nothing. Not even a thanks but no thanks. Just “nothing”.

Women – even exes you’re not f~~~ing/dating/living with anymore – still will want power and control in your life. To have no view into your life or hold on you will drive them CRAZY. Their own need for control causes them to go totally nuts. I use that to my advantage.

IT jobs, s~~~ I could write a book here on this subject. It would make you cry, laugh, clinch your fists in anger, and all that in just one story, one job…lol….

I was in that field for over 20 years, and still was amazed daily at the inhumanity, total disregard for other humans, and most of all, THE F~~~ING LEVEL OF INBRED RETARDATION the majority of our country functions at….Un-freaking believable. Really. If I ever hear another asshole tell me, ” Can you just get over here and fix it for me!?!?!” ever again my head will burst into flames and magma will ooze from my eyes and ears!

You but a space shuttle. With NO F~~~ING IDEA what any of the parts look like or what they do. The space shuttle arrives at your door in the 100 trillion f~~~ing pieces a space shuttle takes to make.

What do you do? HMMMM

I will just call NASA and make a tech support agent tell me how to put it together and get it to fly.

I mean I spent a LOT OF MONEY ON THIS DAMNED thing they should be responsible for telling me how to f~~~ing use it…

That is what every f~~~ing call felt like for 20 + years, I swear to god.

1) We have one of the most thankless professions. Much like farmers everyone needs us and they love to abuse us but will always thank their secretaries and accountants before they thank the guys that make the equipment they use work. I’ve seen it happen too many times at executive level going aways.
2) The pay does not reflect the workload especially in the private sector
3) The skilled ones seem to account for maybe 25% of the entire IT populace and end up doing 99% of the work.
4) The feminists are actually getting their way with their bulls~~~ since companies like Microsoft want to throw lots of advertising revenue to recruit more unskilled c~~~s that usually don’t even like the damn job to begin with.

DAMNIT! I just turned this into an IT rant… I should stop now before I go on for days about this lol.
