It’s easy to see some have been together for 50+ years. In a way, I’m jealous. In a way, I wish that was me. I see, and can feel the love. I believe tho, it’s rare. Through out history, men get poisened, get killed, get divorced. Or the woman moves on and leaves the man.  Yes men also leave their woman. Sometimes for the secretary at work.

Yes, I’d like to start a new relationship, but, I cannot ever again, let a woman move in with me. I can not even let them sleep over, as I know, they are nosey, and be in my crap while I was asleep. Sadly, you can love them, but you cant’ trust them.

I believe this is just a womans DNA. ie a females nature. I suppose I am stuck for the moment. Or perhaps, totally free. As I also see long time married men asking their wifes for permission to even “hang with me”. Perhaps being “pussy whipped” is part of the “growing old together” thing.

Or perhaps, it’s way past time to go “old school”. Men have been taught in Western Society that “woman are equal”. Perhaps they are NOT. Perhaps they NOW have to be led by men, like in some cultures you now see on TV. Perhaps “old school” is correct. Hell, the Amish believe it. The Mennonites believe it. It does work.

I am not, nor ever preaching. Just “food for thought”

It’s a different world, no fault divorce, feminism, women’s rights, and gynocentric family courts means happily ever after ain’t gonna happen, if it ever did in the past, which I am skeptical of.
But when you say “old school”, real old school, you put yourself first and live the best you can, don’t buy the cow, when all you want is a glass of milk.

When the war cemeteries are half full of the corpses of dead conscripted women, only then will women have earned the right to speak of equality. Sidecar “A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do.” - Bob Dylan

Today’s women don’t believe they need a decent man.  (1) They can rip money out of Uncle Sam to pay for their litter of brats if need be, (2) they are not in towns any more but anonymous cities where they can be bitches and no one knows when they move to the next block, (3) the laws and media have become so perversely anti-male that they can cut a man’s dick off and put it in a disposal and he is at fault, (4) they can accuse a guy of anything at all and he is automatically guilty of it with a permanent blackmark on his record, (5) everything – magazines, TV, radio, internet – they are exposed to tells them men are s~~~ and to be exploited and f~~~ed over, and (6) to a large degree they have a pussified male population to abuse the hell out of.

I actually believe women were equal in prior society.  They flipped that table and with it f~~~ed up society, so all a real man can do now is step aside and let the s~~~ rot and collapse.  There is actually nothing in it for us to change the world – in fact it is against our interests to try – so just step aside, watch the s~~~show, listen to them all bitch, get a laugh, and do what’s best for you.

And today, my own father, despite his very nice, sweet, happy, and long marriage to my mother, would be the first to tell you that in modern society a guy would be crazy to not just f~~~ away whatever he can and avoid getting involved with today’s bitches.  I know because he has told me precisely that. Old men have seen it all and know WTF they are talking about.

I bathe in the tears of single moms.

It’s a matter of dignity.~

I don’t think they’re really really happy, just making the best of it.

Human beings are not inherently meant to have life long partners. Very few species actually mate for life. The “romantic” idea of mating for life is the concept that someone can love you unconditionally. It feels nice to know that you are finally good enough and your life is complete. But, this will never exist. There are always conditions. It also makes a s~~~ ton of money.

Now a society that reinforces certain ideals creates advantageous life long relationships. Which benefit both sexes. Our society does not. Currently the conditions of life long pair bonding has become not worth it for males.

Men and women are not equal. They are different. Just as all men are not created equal.

I don’t think they’re really really happy, just making the best of it.

That’s exactly what it is, I used to work as a cashier and more couples than I can count would say “we’re just making the best of it” what the hell does that even mean? Don’t get it twisted people, most of these couples that “grow old together” can’t stand each other guts and deep down inside she probably can’t wait until he passes away so she can get that widow money, I call those women deathbed riders.

From my own experience and from everyone I see around me it is a nightmare these days and I’d rather spend my time doing what I want rather than doing what she wants and then getting screwed over anyway

No reason to get old and look back and realize you p~~~ed away most of your life fulfilling a role that society expects.

I think these baby-boomer long term relationships were much more easily facilitated given the culture these people grew up in (greater societal pressure). As things change I see the women of the current generation not being nearly as suited for the long haul, especially with the government willing to back them financially via the welfare state, along with the sympathy society shows in greater abundance towards women who have fallen on “hard times”. Men are just expected to suck it up and deal with it, anything less gets you labeled as a failure and a loser.
