I’m a 28 year old single male.  I found out about MGTOW through youtube.  The videos I’ve seen have given me a lot to think about.  While the concept of MGTOW is relatively new to me, I’ve long since had questions, doubts and concerns regarding men’s status in society.  In regards to relationships, my stance previously was I had no interest in having children but was open to the possibility of getting married.  Even though I’m fast approaching the average age for males to get married, I’m now finding myself deeply disturbed of the risks that comes with marriage and divorce.  I very much value my financial independence and I know I would never want to risk that by entering into a contract that has an abysmal failure rate.  I look forward to meeting everyone and having discussions with you all.

I’ve thought about the scenarios in which I would be more willing to accept the role of acting as a parental figure and it’s pretty remote. I may be open to adoption if I was affluent, already had a good standing relationship with the child, the child was mature enough to not need constant supervision and the child would most likely be sent to a bad foster home if I didn’t intervene. In short, I wouldn’t want being a guardian to become the center of my universe.

I’ve always found the financial aspects of marriage to be troubling, even without weighing in the risk of divorce and alimony. I never understood why men are willing or even eager to marry women who they know will be a stay-at-home wife or stay-at-home mother. Not only is there the financial burden of supporting an adult dependent who is perfectly capable of supporting herself, but I think it significantly undermines the dynamics of the relationship.
