Yesterday, I got into a debate and afterwords a epiphany at the end (Arguing when it comes to women) about a science topic about genetic manipulation. My sister brought up a point that a classmate said “Genetic manipulation is not natural at all” I added to that point that the word natural doesn’t hold much substance and is used incorrectly since the word natural means it comes from nature, a much better way of saying it is “Existing in or formed by nature” from http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/natural.

My mom cuts in and made a argument saying that you can’t generalize like that. I stated that I know that the word has more then one meaning, but the general term is that natural means it’s from nature, Unless you somehow manage to find a loophole with matter in this universe, and created something not from this universe, then my sister friend is going to have to come up with a better agreement to counter yours.

Later into the discussion, my mom said to me that “You have to come up with a meaning that everyone is going to agree with before generalizing” What does that mean? I stated very clearly that that’s how most people use the word and for the most part is true, and there is a right and wrong way to generalize as mentioned with this link thank you Keymaster http://www.mgtow.com/generalizations/ After make my point about that when it comes to learning and having discussions you have to generalize, If I focus on the small details about different means of the word, I can’t get my point across and you won’t learn much If anything. I stated this in a more concise meaning, But I can’t fully recall what was going on when I made that point. My mom stopped for about a minute not being able to refute my point because in this case, I was dead on correct.

After that, I admitted that I was wrong, and they are right. mainly to give up because I’m not going to argue with my mom and my sister with this anymore since they don’t seem to understand what I’m getting at, or we are talking about two different things. She started trying to “correct” my way of stating my points, which in her terms mean how to present my points without going off tangent.

So thank you keymaster for you help back then, and you just nailed in the coffin that when it comes to women and feelings in discussion. Don’t get me wrong, my mom and my sister treated me good, well my mom, my sister is your usual spoiled teen girl nothing new. But when it comes to topics and discussions, men generally speaking are able to do a better job of presenting their arguments then women.

Yes, it’s a waste of time to argue/debate with them. You can’t rationalize the irrational.

In regard to generalizing, my stance is this: an exception to a general trend does not negate the trend; therefore, generalizing is not wrong. In fact, it’s necessary.

If you name a specific woman, they say thats just one woman. if you say its all or most women, they say you’re generalizing. They play upon the semantics of verisimilitude, nothing is “true” or “false” but in varying degrees of truthfulness. Language itself is incapable of describing observations accurately, for the same reason a picture is worth a thousand words. You can get a picture of what the female race is like, and you can describe that picture, but still thousands of words will not adequately paint it for you and this is the generation of the “twitter effect”, they think if you can’t say it in 140 characters or less than it isn’t a real thought.
