The only thing we are in charge of, the only thing we can improve, is ourselves. Everything external is controlled by titanic forces that we can do little about, but we are in charge of how we respond to them.

Diogenes (arguably the world’s most famous Cynic) took MGHOW beyond the logical extreme of the Philosophy of Cynicism.
Wuss that I am; I’ve made quite a few compromises from his position, just to ensure my comfort (food, shelter, a pet, friends & relatives, hobbies, that kind of thing).

A cynic acknowledges the natural world as good and deems modern civilizations as an unnecessary evil due to their unnatural ways of pleasure seeking and self exaltation.
