The outcome of this case will be very important.

Five things need to happen to establish meaningful precedent.

1)  This needs to be declared a frivolous charge and be thrown out.  Assuming that it isn’t?:

2)  The judge needs to establish a proportionate severity for this having been brought before the Canadian taxpayer.  Public safety is compromised when this sort of thing clogs the legal system.  These two women need to be severely put in their place for believing that this “problem” is worthy of our institutions pursuing it.

3) Because of the frivolity, when this man is acquitted, the judge needs to insist that the women involved pay court costs, and costs to the defendant for his procured defense (I hope to hell there is at least one conscionable lawyer willing to do a pro bono for him on this one).

4)  The defendant must then proceed with a civil defamation case against the both of them, and pursue very significant damages.

5)  Media, whether it be mainstream (highly unlikely) or independent need to stay with reporting on the continuity of this case.  An example needs to be made of this from start to finish.  This is a very key occurrence and it must not be swept under the carpet with other garbage.

I will never abide by this in my country.  Never.

And mark my words: were such a thing to happen to me, I would pursue this to the bitter end and to the highest level of court out of principle.

This can’t be backed down from or ignored.
