I’ve had TERRIBLE luck taking a vacation with a girlfriend.  More time was wasted “deciding/arguing” about what to do, where to go, what to see, etc.  So, I decided I would go solo.  I could do “what I want”, but it seemed “empty”.  Standing at the Grand Canyon by myself was kind of “eh”.  I had this need/desire to share the experience with someone, I felt it was being wasted on just me.

I seem to have this “I want to go, but I don’t want to go alone” issue, which is probably ego bulls~~~, feel free to confirm.

Do any other members experience this?

You’ve been socialized to feel that way since birth. And women are MOST guilty of this s~~~! They want you to “ask them out”, as if your good time hinges on her “yes” or “no”. I have even told other guys to NEVER “ask” women out and just tell her she should join you. Women got mad about about that because they want you to ASK for their f~~~ing permission. How insane is that.

Society WANTS you to think unless you are with a woman, you aren’t having a good time. But guess what: Women RUIN a good time. How many times have you wanted to go out and have a good time and a woman f~~~ing s~~~ all over it with , drama, pouting, the silent treatment, nagging, she’s too hot, she’s too cold, she’s hungry and needs to pee every 2 hours…

There are women EVERYWHERE.

You never need to “take” one with you – for any reason – anywhere.
Think of it like that and you’re missing out on NOTHING.

You don’t take sand to the beach.

Welcome to MGTOW.

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.

The last few times I’ve taken vacations and wanted to bring females along, they either agreed to go then bailed at the last minute (sticking me with airfares, tickets, reservations I otherwise would not have made, etc) or came along and then complained the entire time. They don’t appreciate what it takes to organize a trip, they take way too long to get ready to do anything, they mostly want to shop or take selfies and no matter what you put in front of them, they’re still more interested in their phone.

I’ve decided that if there are any trips I want to take that I thought would only make sense if I were bringing a date, then I just don’t need to be taking those trips.

In March I’m booked up for a rather expensive twelve day trip to Iceland and the Faroe Islands to view the total solar eclipse. Not only could I not have afforded to take this trip if I was expected to bring a female along, but I almost certainly would not enjoy it 1/10th of what I will going by myself along with a group of individuals with similar interests (it’s a group tour put on by Astronomy magazine so should be 100% amateur and professional astronomers… hopefully without spouses).

Go by yourself and then buy drinks for and pick up on whomever happens to be there when you show up.

Planned a side trip to Napa Valley. Cash in my travel points to upgrade in a very nice Hotel. And then it would be 4 days in Vegas. FOUR YEARS I have wanted to do it.. just me and an open road. In fact it was the first time I got any “paid time off”. That was something to celebrate.

I made the mistake of taking a woman along. What a f~~~ing disaster.
I would rather carry a colostomy bag.

Drama. Mood swings. And “what’s wrong?”….. “nothing”.
Couldn’t even f~~~ing enjoy the music with her telling me it’s too loud, or she doesn’t like that song.

“WALK. You don’t like that song? F~~~ING WALK. Bitch”.

That’s what happens when you “ask” a woman out.
That’s what happens when you think it would be nice to have a woman with you.

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.

I understand what you mean. I saw the Grand Canyon alone the first time and thought at the time I’d like to have someone with me to appreciate it, but an experience a few years later on cured me of the need to bring a woman along.

I don’t usually do much for new years eve. I outgrew that crap early in my 20s. But in 1999, as new year’s eve was getting closer, I wanted to plan something for nye that year (for the millennium) that I would remember. The plan I came up with was to take a 10 day cruise in the Caribbean. Had been cruise before and figured a nye party on a cruise ship should be good.

I took a girl with me who I didn’t know very well, but figured who’s not gonna have a good time on a 900 foot long booze boat floating around the Caribbean for 10 days with a nearly continuous party going on? First night, we’re both jet lagged and tired from flying to catch the ship. Second night, we’re at sea… It’s gonna be ON. She knows. I know.

We go to dinner on second night and she orders glass of wine. We eat and talk to the other people at our table and somewhere along the way, waiter comes by and turns over the (empty) bottle into the ice bucket. I quietly look around the table and note that there are no other wine glasses among the other people sitting at our table. Me and the rest are all drinking water. She drained that bottle by herself. Later that night, as we walk around the ship, she picks up a vodka and cranberry overtime we pass a bar… and cruise ships have LOTS of bars. Lost count around 5 or 6. She gets so s~~~ faced drunk that I end up carrying her back back to the cabin after she repeatedly tries to lean on roulette table in casino to hold herself up.

First two times, they politely explain to her that you cannot lean on a roulette table anywhere in the world because to the security cameras, it appears that you are trying to bump the table and influence where the ball drops. Third time she does it, they don’t say anything to her. Guys running the table look at her, look at me, and look over at the exit. Nobody says anything. They understand. I understand… Just another drunk girl on a cruise ship. Nothing new. No reason to make a scene.

I slide up to her, get my arm around and start to guide her to the exit. Casino guys smile. I smile back. It’s all going to be fine… They and I are all glad that we know how to communicate and to handle this without a word being spoken… until we go by the highstakes blackjack table and my drunk idiot date falls off her too high heels and staggers/falls toward the table (with the big pile of money on it). I catch her just before she falls into some obviously wealthy, high roller lady’s lap… but it’s a giant fricken scene now.

Dealer stops dealing. Security cameras swing around to my direction. Pit boss walks over. High rollers stand up and back away like someone’s about to have a seizure… My idiot starts laughing and thinks this is funny. But she’s the only one who does… She looks like the drunk idiot that she is. I just look like a (sober) idiot.

Later that night in the cabin, she has a drunken, hysterical, melt down with blubbering, snot gushing, eye makeup smearing tantrum etc etc etc… yada yada yada… We’ve all seen this crap before. But rarely have we paid thousands of dollars and flown out of the country to experience it.

The next night, we’re at dinner and I’m finding myself counting her drinks, watching the clock, trying to remember the rate of consumption from the previous night and using all this to estimate her blood alcohol level relative to her tolerance so I can anticipate behavior …

Then it occurs to me: I’m an anesthesiologist. This is what I do all day at my job!! I’m back at work, only instead of calculating metabolic rates vs consumption of anesthetics drugs, I’m doing it with alcohol for this person who is not my patient…and I am not here to work. This is my vacation and I’m being put to work to serve as personal physician – baby sitter to this drunk idiot…

At the thought of being stuck on this boat with this this lush-bag for 7 more days, my mind started to wander onto how a person might be lowered over the side on one of the lifeboats… or perhaps have their boarding card disappear so they’d be stuck in the next port. But none of those were realistic.

What was realistic was waiting for her to go shopping at one of the ports, and then packing my stuff and bailing off the ship in a foreign country so I could spend the rest of my vacation in peace. It takes several hours to get the proper paperwork together, change airline reservations and make hotel reservations etc. but I did it. And I did it before she got back to ship. When she got back, she found empty cabin.

I got NO problem traveling alone anymore after that experience…

Look, it's not my fault that tornado dropped a house on your sister. Now get back on your broom and get your ass out of here... and take your monkeys with you

Your “Houdini” off the ship?  Well played sir, well played…

LOL. My travels including Amsterdam with my brother was a delightful departure from all the “tourists” we saw going the other way, we purchased mnt. bikes for a 12 day stay, “I hate tourists cattle drives”! Well anyway, we saw the city of Amsterdam as a local, and not as a tourist. It was the sickest s~~~, American assholes on MT bikes running everything the f~~~ over, they at the time had English Racers, they had never seen grinding a rail, walking wheelies up the traffic stops, going over construction sites instead of around, It was a blast! I did 2 cruises, from Florida to Belize, I was with friends on motor-scooters in Belize and drove past a checkpoint, 2 guards with M-16’s, my friend commented don’t worry they’re M-16’s, If you see any ak-47’s then worry! was an eye opener as to how far we traveled that day, done on a split second decision… I’ve done things all alone too, like snowmobiling the green mnts. VT. I’ve done stupid things too, like climbing to the top of ltl Killington with my snowmobile all alone, potential price for f~~~ing up on that climb= MY LIFE, but the memories are well worth it! I can’t imagine the possibility of dragging some whining bitch along for the ride, just so she can ruin it by shoving me into the cattle drive, f~~~ that! My current aspirations are to resume flight in an ultra-lite, It suites MGTOWS perfectly, no filing a flight plan, no registration, no insurance, radio optional, 500 ft alt. no aerodrome. The point I’m trying to make is doing your own thing with others of similar interest or just going your own way…..

I had one good one with a woman, but it was for my birthday. She also did the whole drama thing BEFORE we left. Stating she wanted to do to some couples sauna suite hotel for the weekend…. I said HELL NO, we are just driving, I will do it alone if you don’t come. Got to see a bunch of states I never seen before, and the feeling of the open road.

I will say the last I took by myself was to get something. I went to Kentucky to get my dog. It was great. Perhaps going somewhere with more of a purpose will help. Not knocking your choice in the grand canyon, just something along what doc was talking about or some other hobby of yours. The ideas are endless. A few years ago, my family had a Karman Ghia in our garage that was in pieces. So guy took his kid on a road trip from the north west to the Midwest just to pick up the Porsche engine it had. He didn’t do it alone but I think you get the idea.
