Yes, it can be lonely and yes, I sometimes wonder what the purpose of my life should be if I’m not trying to pair bond with a female but then I get back to my clean, well ordered and tastefully decorated home with my toys, my comfortable chair and my favorite music and remember that I have the OPTION to find my own purpose in life and that option is worth any sacrifices I may have made by not becoming a husband, father and helpless worker drone.

It has been great decorating this place little by little, knowing that it’s mine and that I’m going to be here for a while. Considerably different from renting.

The thing is how slowly I’ve been decorating.  The place is still pretty much empty.  I don’t have a single picture on the wall yet.

Female friends and family come over and they have all sorts of ideas – rugs here, tables there, do-dads in this or that corner.  They aren’t necessarily all bad suggestions but man – if I was sharing this space with a woman I fully expect it would be “decorated” within a week.

I love being able to take my time.  Let the walls stay empty until I find a painting I know I want to look at for the next twenty years.

Yes , in the beginning the silence would drive me up the wall. I now embrace the silence. I hear and see the sights and sounds of the world around me that I have haven’t listen to in decades. I have the ex-wife and my kids tell me it must be lonely living in a house with 2 camping chairs, an air mattress, a tv and kitchen table. I tell them no— I not lonely I am at peace for once! I get to do what I want , how I want , where I want, and don’t have to listen to someone else bitching at me about petty bulls~~~.

These have been the best nights of sleep in years!!
