I make fun of our current society, with everyone’s obsession with having their faces glued to their phones or in my case my laptop. Having to always talk and read, talk and read, talk and read. Participate in forums, etc.

I find that I spend way too much time in fantasy land. I spend all my free time just cruising around on Facebook. I am not living life or doing anything. Instead of going out and enjoying the nice weather…….I find it much easier to just stay inside in the air conditioning and read Facebook all day and all night long.

I can’t even concentrate on a television show or movie. My big passion is college football and college football season is right around the corner. I worry that I won’t even have the concentration of sitting and watching a game without having to have my laptop right on my lap.

I want to change. The first step, is I deactivated my Facebook account. All those “friends” and forums I belong to………In all seriousness I could vanish off the face of the earth and NO ONE would lose any sleep over it. So why should I bother going there? To see all the girls who have boyfriends and how much they love their boyfriends, love their kids, etc. What good is it for me to see that?

I actually WANT to be more reclusive than I already am. I want to disconnect from society. My goal in life is to one day live extremely rurally. I’m talking so rural that you only go “into town” once every 2 weeks to do food shopping and what not. I want to be a total loner and be alone on a lot of land out in rural Western Kentucky or somewhere like that.

So my question to you all is………..how to go about living a reclusive life not only in person but online. Without losing your mind and dying of boredom. That’s my question. To learn how to enjoy life without having to be “connected” all the time.

Women are parasites. Each and every last one of them.

I slowly deleted most of the females from my friends list.  I got really sick of there used up 30-40yo snatch drama on there.

Month one:  “Oh my god Bobby, you are the best. I can’t believe I found someone so great, I love you for being you!”

Month two: “OK, live your life, I hope you are happy. I wished I never met you!” (Chorus of c~~~s replying with “you go girl!” affirmations).

Month three: Rinse and repeat!

Doesn’t matter what type of reading you do.

I also am an amateur woodworker and I am always working on my house trying to make it more energy efficient.

I also work on projects to keep my lawn green.  I live in central Texas and water is normally limited on watering your lawn.  I have developed a solar powered system for capturing my AC runoff and storing it to water my lawn.  Next I am working on a project for a solar powered condenser developed by an Australian.

You are taking the first steps in your online recovery addiction.. You realize it is starting to overtake your regular life. Facebook is just a new way to keep up with the Jones. Its the place to show on how great a life one truly wants to live but in reality their lives SUCK!!! Your right — your Facebook friends couldn’t give two  s~~~ about you– most would probably walk past you in the street without saying hello to you

The only thing worse is twitter (Total f~~~n waste of your valuable time). Start doing something more productive with your life like slardy mcbardfast said. BUild s~~~, work out, get off your ass and just start to moving!!

Just remember to check in here from time to time  and tell us  how your life has gotten better.

It’s really simple.

I did it in January of this year.

I hardly talked to any of my so called friends, no one commented on anything of substance, and what’s up with everyone posting the same meme?

I f~~~ing hate Facebook. It has ruined authentic communication for a lot of people.

As someone mentioned above I read more, and I also play video games for entertainment.

You could probably dedicate your time to learning how to read/play music.

Who knows, you might fall in love with it.

I f~~~ing hate Facebook. It has ruined authentic communication for a lot of people.

I went to a neighbor’s house for his son graduation party. Its amazing sad that people don’t talk to each other. I saw the guys on one side of the party texting the girls on the  other side.. Its a sad freakn day that electronics have taken over the way we communicate with other people. All the time they were taking pictures and posting it on social media

Exactly.

Then when people ask if you’re on Facebook, and you tell them no they think you’re hiding something.

Yeah, my privacy. What makes a person want to share so much information on a social platform like that? I’d rather share stories, and updates of my struggles with women on a forum like this with guys who are like-minded.

It’s ridiculous.

If you’re family doesn’t talk to you outside of Facebook then something is wrong there as well. I don’t fall for the family connection thing either.

Buy metal working machinery and make stuff ?

Agreed, when you acquire metallurgical skills you can make your own hardware and machinery, my metal skills include welding, fabricating, drafting, and design, I was determined to conquer the uncooperative spirit of metal when I was 13 trying to drill holes in my minibike frame to mount the engine, but using soft wood drill bits that looked the same as high carbon bits, did ya ever watch a 13 year old with a cherry red drill bit trying to burn his way to the other side?

That was my “F~~~ THIS” day! I started purchasing my own tools, instead of taking what was in the abandoned cars we towed that were headed to the junkyard.

I find gardening to be very rewarding, I’m designing a fertilizer trailer with a 55 gallon barrel and water pump. I hate wasting time, I tend to automate everything I do for maximum effect with as little time and effort as possible…

I just painted Towtruckster 2 (silver and black) when it’s fully reassembled in a few days, I’m using both Trucksters to raise a raft to replace flooded barrels. I don’t  build things (anymore) that are showy and useless (MG TD not withstanding). Some things are just classic, have that look, and deserving of a full restoration…  I like antique British roadsters, I hate Lucas dynamos and voltage regulators, almost as much as I hate Chrysler GM and Ford, America’s automotive three stooges…
