An all new profile page is underway. As you know, we have been swamped with other priorities and set back in production due to the repeat attempts on our site. Currently we don’t permit uploads and attachments (only embedding) but that’s about to change with the new profiles. A LOT has to go into it and we are changing the profiles to have many extended features and options. Uploading is one of them. This way, you can localize an image here.

The reason we don’t permit attachments is to prevent belligerent use. So adding the ability is not enough since we need to also add a “membership tier” that permits these extended features based on your activity in the forums and other criteria.

At present, you can embed a video or any image that exists online.
In the compose window. click the “img” button and paste the full path to the image into the box.

That will create the image reference for you.
This is also assuming the other site permits pulling their images.

To reference an image from anywhere programatically, this is the code:

Most of the time that’s all you need to do. It’s far easier. But we can’t wait until we allow uploads because that’s an easy way for a member to post a photo they took in the real world —- say, directly from their phone —- etc. So when you log in you will have an uploads section with a drag and drop box. It’s extremely cool. Can’t wait for you to see how easy it is. The file will also stay here… so no more empty references from another site if it should ever be removed.

This will permit our users to expand the archives themselves.
Or if they created an image in photoshop, they can bring it and keep it here.

Ditto! The only thing I miss from that visual editor is the image size editor. If needs be, I can peck in the width and heights manually in the raw HTML, but, lazy bastard that I am, I would rather let the computer do it for me.
